After two weeks and 126 dealerships contacted I finally found a dealer willing to sell their only GT350 allocation at MSRP. Ordered this morning. They are charging me nearly $500 in fees, but that's ok. Ended up being 237 miles away in a college town.

If anyone wants a GT350 at $5k over, you can PM me, I've found several in the Mid-Atlantic at that price.

I know of 4 that are available for order. One might bite at $5k over, the rest are $10k+. I didn't ask much about the R models.

I've ordered a GT350, but I want an "R"........ 5K ADM is not problem at all. if you help me you can have my order on the non "R" at MRSP

In my opinion I believe the R is worth 80000 or less. As long as they keep the production numbers down it will be worth it. Just my opinion. Regular 350 MSRP

I've been calling several dealers and have found a few with allocations, but so far they have been $10,000 to $20,000 over MSRP. At that price, a C7 is a much better car in many ways, and inferior in engine and brakes. Makes all the cost cutting done by Ford to make this affordable seem like wasted effort. Can't fault the dealers, though. I just keep calling around and eventually I'm sure I'll find one at the price I'm willing to pay. Might be a 2017 though ;-).

I've seen Ford mention on several occasions that they will be producing the regular GT350 in reasonable numbers. The implication was a bit more than Boss 302 numbers, and maybe a bit less than GT500 numbers.

Like the Viper, Z/28, Alpha 4C, Lotus Elise/Exige, these types of cars have significant and vocal interest initially, but that interest doesn't always last because the cars are often very specialized. Once the initial demand wears off, the cars become much more readily available. I expect the same with the GT350.

You absolutely can fault the dealers. You didn't set the outrageous price on a car they don't even have yet. They did.

The production numbers will NOT be low. They will be adequate as the take rate of this type of vehicle is extremely low to the point where the market for it barely exists at all. We as enthusiasts often confuse interest with the intent and ability to purchase. It is simply amazing to observe how many people here who have a clear knowlege of the sales history of other SE Mustangs are on board with this "limited" nonsense. Don't be a sucker. Your friendly neighborhood Ford dealer is chomping at the bit for a fool and his money. The retailers all know what the score is with any new offering of this nature but will feed a bug eyed enthusiast lies and BS and unload his wallet in the process. Ask the fools who bent over for an "ADM" on any of the other hot Mustangs of yesteryear if it they would ever do it again.

The mistake with the GT500's... take the order and commitment first then meet that demand in a timely manner. Don't go by projections and speculations or you're gonna be stuck holding onto unclaimed inventory.

Unfortunately it's not that straight forward. "Meet that demand in a timely manner" is where it gets tricky with high dollar, low volume production with many long lead parts from suppliers. And I assure you not everyone who will end up buying this car is going to be like us, right on the dealers tail, looking to place an early order. There is always a certain amount of speculation required and risk involved in the decision making process.
