So I got about 1200 miles on my GT and I notice while cleaning the rims one rim was scratched very deep. What can this be from? If I curbed it which I don't believe I did I feel as if the lip of the rim would be damaged and its not. And a car washed would have damaged the front rim (which isnt) and paint. What's your opinion?

You may have not felt it but you probably got really close to the curb thought you got away with it and barely glazed it.

Luckily I believe the faces of the spokes where it's scuffed are just the raw aluminum and the painted part is between the spokes. Meaning it can likely just be buffed out my someone who repairs rims for pretty cheap.

To me it looks like you went through a car wash that had rails. I have seen this personally on another car. The rear wheels may sit out a little further than the front which caused them to get scuffed. I never never never go to any wash that has rails anymore.

Something vertical, either a car wash rail or a curb. Not many other choices.

went through a NO TOUCH carwash with rails over the winter (just a garage bay, no movement). NEVER AGAIN. Never had that problem before, but now my PP wheels are fucked on the left side.

My guess is the car wash if you're confident you didn't curb it. Looks rotational to me. My advice...stay the heck out of the car wash unless it's 1000% hand wash. Look on the inter web for wheel re- finishing in your area, or buy a new one from Ford, and keep that for a spare.

That does suck though. The first damage is always the worst. Sorry Bro!

I'm going to go with car wash. It's really hard to find a good rail-less car wash. Sorry to see this :(

Brotha either it is by getting rubbed up against something, or its from a car wash, I always recommend to have the cars hand washed not through the machine.

Damaged rim

Managed to damage my right rear rim this week, hitting a concrete block while entering a small parking lot.
Picture speaks for itself, no way you can repair this, so I have to buy a new one.

paint it with touchup paint or send it to a wheel repair. Outright replacement is a bit overkill
