So true. I shudder when I see the Chevy badge on those horrible little Daewoos.

What were they thinking.

Ever since I was little, it always puzzled me that the great US cars were never officially imported here so here I am at 53 years old with a deposit on a GT.

I had a Mercury Grand Marquee 4.6 V8 for the past year and absolutely loved it. Used it as a daily to commute across London and after a short time getting used to it's size, I was just as fast through the traffic as I am in my e36 BMW :D

It has also got me used to the expense of running a V8 as it only did 12mpg in town.

Didn't think the interior was too bad, in fact it was a lovely place to sit. Like an armchair in my lounge :D

Was pretty nippy for a 2 ton lump and the handling was fine. You just get used to the way it drives.

I miss it but it was sold for a big profit to add to my savings for the new Mustang.

Suppose the next question to ask here is what is the average age of UK owner.....seems a lot of guys in late 40s and early 50s

Am I in the minority at 31? Or are younger car nuts going crazy for them as well?

Are you detecting a certain recurring 'grumpy' theme!

I'm early 40s and to be honest, finances wouldn't have really stretched before. Still a big spend out now, but just about doable.

.

No idea what you mean [emoji57]

I was wondering as most of the ages mentioned seemed to be older and I wondered were most people buying them to keep in a garage and use as a weekend toy or daily driver.

I seem to be one of the only guys I know getting one over here although most ones I know in the car scene are impressed they are coming over.

Yeah! It's annoying to see those YouTube bids of US guys and their new Mustangs. They are barely older than my teenage kids. :D

Even at 53 I know that'll I be raped on insurance. Love to know what the quotes must be for a 23 year old.

For me (31) I was told to base the 2.3 ecoboost on the same as a 2.7 Porsche Boxter which is between £300 and £1500 depending who you ask lol

I didn't even consider the 5l prices

I might be the youngest at 21 :headbang: (Everyone keeps telling me it's a bad idea though haha)

I have too noticed the majority do seem to be over 40 though

Gawd! I hope you live in the middle of nowhere as the insurance is going to be unbelievable.

If you get a good quote, let me know as I pay a fortune, here in London, for cars and bikes, and I'm 53 with 20+ years of NCB.

Good on yer :headbang:

21! You aint lived yet. You cant have a Mustang, you need to go through years of getting old bangers through the MOT then getting your first sensible hatchback, then your first nice saloon followed by your first 2.0 litre engine and then a V6 and an Alfa Romeo has to be thrown in there somewhere and then, and only then can you get a Mustang!!

Seriously 21? Good luck to you pal. Just don't drive it like a 21 year old....well, not all the time.

Me 48 and yes I have been through all the above!

Yep, 46... though NO idea how that happened

This is the first time I've even considered getting a new car. Just can't pass up the chance I've been waiting for more than half my life...

Until 32 I didn't have a car. (I basically lived and worked on the uni campus till then). After that I had a 115hp mk2 Focus hatchback, then a 150hp mk3 Focus sedan. Now, at 41, I'm getting the 317hp EBustang. Am I doin' it right?

Insurance premiums have fallen like a brick in recent years, thanks in part to the government introducing sexual discrimination guidelines for insurance. Young men's insurance has fallen and young women's insurance has increased, so a 17 year old girl ramming daddies BMW into a pole will no longer get away with a slap on the wrist and a few hundred £s worth of premiums.

Gen5 Camaro SS, Left Hand Drive, 25yr old, working full time, 9000 miles per year, SDP (since it was going to be a daily), 7 years license holder, 6 years NCD. I was quoted £650 with £500 excess.

I've worked my ass of for the past 5 years with the aim of saving for a deposit on a house. But I recently landed a good job and decided to live a little first before getting tied down. And I'm a pretty sensible driver haha

Shouldn't be too bad, can't be any worse than the first year i passed my test. It cost me £2,200 for a 1.25l Fiesta. Just before the rules on Insurance changed.

I quoted on Admiral for the ecoboost a couple weeks ago and got quoted £1,500. Once it becomes available on comparison sites I'm expecting quotes somewhere around £1,000.
