THIS. It has to be what took place. They're either not sealed, or he took that picture before putting clamps or welding.
Could you not just have two little resonators welded into there? I feel like that'd be cheaper? If you're having a shop do the work, at least. I realize these are about the same thing, but what made you go with these specifically?Sorry guys, I clamped them to see if I liked the set up. I will be welding them when I get a chance. I like the sound. The growl is a little deeper and the car is a lot more tolerable inside. You can have a conversation with a passenger.... Worked great for me.
I have no idea. Do they, typically?I figured that the race bullets would flow better.
Would you say that your drone was elimninated? If not, what % would you say drone was reducedI figured that the race bullets would flow better.
Zero drone with the Helmholtz J tubes in place as well as the resonators. The J tubes reduced your drone between what rpm's?Thanks for posting this. I had put J-pipes on my Gibson to fix the drone, it helped but it was still so bad I had taken it off and gone to the lethal x-pipe and stock exhaust. That was ok, but didn't have a lot of volume.
After listening to your videos I decided to try the gibson one more time. I'm glad I did. I got the same bullets from summit, welded them in, the whole thing took about 3 hours. The car sounds so much better, it has a nice deep exhaust note with no drone. I have 0 drone now, it sounds great!! Thanks again.
Dntalman, (sorry for V6 question in GT thread)Guys I have fixed my Gibson exhaust drone. I have drove for an hour or so in pure bliss. Don't get me wrong, the Gibson sound before this mod was great. I just could not stand to ride it around town or 55 to 65 on the highway. My wife complained, friends would say it sounds great outside but they do not think such a engineered sports car should have exhaust with that much drone... I agreed 110% with everyone... I also wanted to not fool with selling the Gibson and buying another that I may or may not hate... The only answer that came to mind was try and fix it!! Well guys, I did just that... Overall, the exhaust simply sounds better from idle to wide open throttle..
THE SOLUTION
They are Dynomax Race Bullets 3" inlet and outlet 4" body and they are 12" long
I am glad that it helped! I think it actually made the Gibson system sound better. Thanks for posting this. I had put J-pipes on my Gibson to fix the drone, it helped but it was still so bad I had taken it off and gone to the lethal x-pipe and stock exhaust. That was ok, but didn't have a lot of volume.

With the factory resonator on the car, I would think that your car would not have the drone problem. You could add some bullets after the factory resonator, maybe it will help.Dntalman, (sorry for V6 question in GT thread)
There are numerous variables between your aftermarket axle back and my V6 convertible Magnaflow muffler (4x9 oval, 11" long) setups obviously. But getting terrible drone from 1250 - 1900 rpm's is the same. I have spent endless hours trying to reduce drone by moving mufflers forward to allow more inches of pipe + tip after the muffler to no avail. I have the stock mufflers back on for now. :(
This is certainly grasping at straws comparing our set ups, but I have wondered about changing something forward of the axle, while still keeping the stock suitcase resonator. Maybe tring to squeeze in an 'X' pipe or resonators between the factory suitcase res. and the differential. This may be even more apples to oranges in that my tubing is 2 1/4", but that may be less a factor due to the smaller engine??
Anyway, just a shot in the dark out of drone frustration in case you think you may have any crossover thoughts from your similar drone removing research. I don't even know what the GT's mid section looks like. Seems you have an 'X' pipe just in front of your Dynamax res.'s. Here is a video of what my V6 convert. w/ Magnaflow 11365 mufflers looks like for reference.
