I took that to mean the stop/start tech that cuts the engine when you're stationary after a few seconds, not the engine start button in the cabin.

It would be fortuitous certainly however this is what will happen in time I believe. Ford will make more options available depending on sales figures. I think that'll come too late for everyone currently on this forum.

There will likely be an economic or regulatory reason behind every change. Apparently there will be no stop/start either. Less technology for the purchase price though not sure that's a bad thing from the driving perspective.

All in all, it does blow rather a large hole in Ford's "Global" Mustang vision. It's clearly not possible to deliver one car to a global market, at least not without making it less appealing to their core customer - the US.


When ordering on my car on Wednesday salesman said FORD are confirming all options including possible "new ones" in the Autumn for the new production run. He would call me as soon as he heard what these were and if I wanted them.

So it seeme nothing is certain :shrug:

Yes, you are correct. So there was a version 2 of the May 11th prices (which still seems to show pre-budget tax increase prices).

I'm not too concerned about the fading to the rear but it looks like there may be fading towards the front of the bonnet also, which may change the look of the car for the worse. Presumably to cut down on the labour time by getting rid of the fiddly lower bumper parts...

Not sure we'd be able to get confirmation of what the stripes look like prior to order either so they may have to come off mine.

Wonder what they'll do to cut costs next...deliver the thing flat-packed?

I was very keen of getting stripes from the factory since then I wouldn't have to inform my insurer of the modifications.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster. The silver (or black) would have to fade into the body colour so you'd end up with a body-coloured stripe at the extreme front or back. Could easily look terrible.

Very good point about the factory-fitting and insurance.

Not by our standards but an insurance company will use anything if your car is written off to not pay out. They would likely try to claim it as undeclared mods that would have increased the premium and therefor you were driving uninsured.

Apparently most 'mods' don't add that much to the premium. Just slightly embarrassing as a forty year old gown man, to tell the insurance company "I've put two hulking great go-faster stickers across the entire length of my car".

I suspect it also sends out the wrong message. Right or wrong, many people view those that mod their cars with a boy-racer stigma. Just look at how mods devalue or make cars harder to sell.

According to the table in the link, fitting a tow bar seems to lower your premium. I would have thought caravan towing increases the risk of accident. But I suppose caravan owners are viewed as being more hip-op than hip-hop.

Do you think there's a 'sto n show' towbar on the market?

Anyone know if having a personalised number plate increases premiums? I'm having a mustang related plate (rather than pesonal) but can't decide whether it makes me (more of) a wan*er or not?

I have heard of some insurance companies increasing premiums for personal plates. Personal experience with Direct Line is that they don't.
