My transmission broke!

I think the Clutch on the GT is just fine. Mine seems to release/engage about 1/2 through the travel....& that's where I like it. Engagement right off the floor would lose time on quick shifts. I'd say change to stronger clutch if you plan on doing any FI, if not...leave it alone. Can't really compare motorcycle clutches to car clutches...most motorcycles have a multi-disc wet clutch set up....

I think you will be fine

I am in the group that thinks they will simply Fix your car and you won't need to pay anything. It sounds like you did "test" some of the features, but it sounds like they will it under warranty. However, if you get a tranny failure a 2nd time in the future, they may not be so nice about fixing it.

It sounds like a defect. Unless you install a bullet proof aftermarket transmission, I would not take unusual risks with your car.

But I do I bet they will fix it for you with no charge.

My GTPP Clutch is fine... about par for the course for a Hydraulic clutch. almost no feel and a real sensation of being isolated. you can't compare a hydraulic clutch with a cable/mechanical clutch... those are wonderful for feedback and feel.

I went into the dealer today on my way home from work and they still haven't figured out what is up with it, they have been working on it off and on due to I just dropped it on them without an appointment so they technically only started on it late Tuesday. They did ask me how it broke or if i was beating on it like taking it to the track or drag strip. I was honest with the guy and said no never to the strip but I have messed around with the track app's and stuff to test it out. Just said its been mostly freeway miles driving back and forth to Utah and Washington. He said they did notice I used the 0-60 and a few times. Either way its not a big deal he said just wanted to know how exactly it broke. "cant fault you for using the car the way the market it". Told him it broke on a surface street after a stop light. I did 1st 2nd 3rd and then the awful ticking sound started. On the plus side they are going to send me pictures of the transmission after they tear it apart and what broke! thought that was pretty cool. after our chat he said as soon as he knows more he will call me but he said your looking at no sooner than next week as of right now.

Been a few days since i updated this thread. The transmission had some broken teeth on the gears. It is being covered under warranty they have already ordered the new parts and have received "some" of them but not all. They don't have an ETA on the rest of the parts to finish the rebuild as of right now. So I may be in the same boat as DieZel. Waiting on parts... but here are a few of the MANY pictures that were taken. They mechanic also said there were quite a few chunks of metal in the fluid when they drained it as well.

how is day 31 treating you? I'm now on day 12... or13 counting the day it broke and I now SEE AND HEAR EVERY MUSTANG driving on the road and just get sad. I literally rolled down my window just to hear a 2014 with exhaust drive off yesterday haha. :(:kickrock:My wife was laughing at me yesterday when she asked why I didn't GO and pull out into traffic in front of a prius when i replied "i didn't have enough room" with a sigh and put my head down.

Sucks dude - And they still are informing me of no ETA - Curious as to what parts they had for you, seeing as I was informed there were none.. lol.. Typical.

I just worry about the car.. Has me sick to my stomach constantly, Im super stressed over it..( not with warranty or anything - just the whole situation.)

Thanks for the update. Some other guy here has a dealership disassembling his whole engine, and you have a dealer disassembling a transmission.

I guess this is the new normal :shrug:
