I just installed the MBRP Black Street (and AirRaid CAI) and took her on a 2000 mile road trip. I have to say this was the perfect exhaust for me. Deep, aggressive growl when I get on it and no drone when I don't. It is loud at start up, then it idles down to a nice, deep burble. Averaged 26.5 MPG at 75 MPH on the highway for the trip, btw. Honestly, I can't possibly be happier with this CAI/Exhaust set up. I've seen some vids of the race and it seems to be quite a bit louder. I'd imagine with the top down it'd sound crazy!
Nice! This is quickly becoming my number one choice due to price/sound/quality

You won't regret it. I was looking at the Gibson system...glad I went with this one. No drone, great sound. Can't be beat for the money.

That seems to be how everyone feels. I think this will be the perfect setup for my DD. If I want loud I will just hit the electric cutouts hahaha

I have the race in stainless and it is LOUD. Other than the noise, it's quite nice.

I have the stainless race system on mine, and I DD my car with no issues to report. It's all very subjective though. Especially the drone complaints. Past 2k RPM on the highway, I don't experience any drone. I also know of some people who have the street system who wish that their systems were louder. I would suggest listening to some sound clips of both race and street systems (though if you have the chance to hear them in person, I'd go that route instead) before making a decision.

If you want a deep throaty tone then go for race system. Buy the stainless system. You'll be happy you did In a few years. Also, be prepared for drone. Some minor drone at highway speeds and below 2k rpm. If your above 2k rpm, you're golden. Haha. Pm me your number and I'll send you some exhaust clips. Happy modding brother.

I just installed the MBRP race in black last night. Welcome to DRONEVILLE USA. The exhaust looks and sounds great from the outside. I had my girl drive it up and down the street and I absolutely love the sound. Inside the cabin is a bit different at least for me. There is drone all over the place. For me it seems more dependent on engine/transmission load. I get drone from idle all the way to 2k depending on the throttle I'm giving it. I do think it's one of the best sounding exhausts. I really like the deep tone of it. I'll likely be selling it and trying to find something else that has a nice deep tone as well.

Does anyone know exactly what causes the drone with this exhaust? I'm wondering if I can add or modify it to eliminate the drone.

The resonator. Borla touring is probably what I will go with. There's a video on one thread I'll try to find it. Nice deep tone and no drone.

Here it is

So after driving around with the race exhaust yesterday I was excited that it seemed like all of the drone was gone. Then realized it's a windows up vs. windows down thing lol.

I do have a question for everyone. I am concerned about the loss in ground clearance. I'm wondering If I did something wrong during the installation. The height is fine at the connection to the cats. But from there to the diff it's hanging about an inch lower. Is this normal? I can't see this working out if I lower the car. Thanks all

I have the race system, when cold its loud but as it warms up it seems to quiet down.
As for the drone, if it really bothers you weld in a J-pipe, can look up helmholtz tube to see what a J-pipe is about.

Or you could just opt for the street...I have it and there's no drone. I love it.

If the street sounded as good as the race I would certainly entertain the thought. I'm more concerned now with the loss of ground clearance.

I really appreciate all the feedback. I will be getting the street version because I don't want any drone but just a little throatier tone.

Think I am pretty much in the exact same boat and sold on the street system in black when I decide to upgrade. Being that it will be my DD and I also live in a family neighborhood it is the best options. Seems like a great value for the price, plus those black tips are sexy.

That is odd on my car you can not see my exhaust from the side. I think you need to loosen back up the rear of the H pipe and push it up and than re-tighten the clamps down. I lose NO ground clearance with my Race system.
