I have just spoke with a rep at MBRP and he stated that their exhaust for the convertible cars are about to be released in the next few weeks and it will be a 3" system.

My question to those that have their exhaust already, how do the street and race systems compair in loudness? With convertible cars, I am sure the tones will be a little louder than a coupe. Any input would be appreciated before I make the purchase when they hit the market.

I have the street, it sounds great but I would not want anything louder.

I just installed mine yesterday, I have the street in black. The sound on cold start up is louder than stock but in a good way nice deep tone and rumble. Driving down the road and light acceleration with windows down it sounds good, not loud but deeper and louder than stock. At throttle and WOT it sounds like you are driving an old muscle car, great deep loud sound. If you try to talk to someone at this point you will be repeating what you just said. Overall it makes the car, no drone and great sound when you want it. I live in a family neighborhood so I was concerned about being annoying but i think the sound is perfect when below 3500 rpm.

I have the RACE on my car, let me advise if you drive highway or this is a DD i would NOT recommend the RACE system. I get a good amount of drone on the highway, it goes slightly away around 70 but still slightly there. My car has 3.31 with stock 18" wheels so I am not sure how it would defer depending on gear and wheel I will say it will drone no matter what. I will say tho the system sounds amazing driving around in town and for the price the MBRP can not be beat. I am going to be contacting MBRP to see if I can buy the street mufflers if they will work and running them.

These are the types of feedback I was looking for. Sound clips on youtube are only as good as the recording or speakers you listen to them on. It looks as though I will be going with the street version based on your replies.

Thanks!

Calling is worth a shot but my guess is you'd be better off in the end to sell the whole Race system and buy the Street.

I have the street and it is pretty loud. That first crank in the morning still sends shivers of joy up my spine. :-)

Just installed my Race system last night, it is loud but to me it makes the car sound like a muscle car should sound.

I am noticing some hanging in the engine rpm's which is interesting, hoping that goes away with some additional miles.

I have the race system as well, its loud and there is drone on the hwy, but I deal with it since its not my DD car.

RubyRed, is your car tuned yet?

I've had the street on for 2500 miles and I wish it was a bit louder or maybe I'm just desensitized to it now.

Car isn't tuned, catback is my first mod.

I haven't had it on the highway yet, love how it sounds so far though so even if there is some drone I will get over it!!!

I was asking because of the hanging RPM's. I have that problem after having a tune (with or without the exhaust) and there are a couple other cars around that also have that same problem, but I don't think I have come across any that have that problem stock yet.

I figured that is why you were asking...it surprised me quite a bit when I drove it last night since I don't have any other mods and the catback is mostly a 'sound' mod!

I am hoping that with putting a few miles on it the hanging rpm's will go away but time will tell. No logical reason for the catback to be causing that...I don't think!

I just installed the MBRP Black Street (and AirRaid CAI) and took her on a 2000 mile road trip. I have to say this was the perfect exhaust for me. Deep, aggressive growl when I get on it and no drone when I don't. It is loud at start up, then it idles down to a nice, deep burble. Averaged 26.5 MPG at 75 MPH on the highway for the trip, btw. Honestly, I can't possibly be happier with this CAI/Exhaust set up. I've seen some vids of the race and it seems to be quite a bit louder. I'd imagine with the top down it'd sound crazy!
