Ford has said little to nothing about the car so who cares. The Shelby GT350 is just like Bigfoot, Area 51 Aliens, The Lochness Monster, The Chupa Cabra, Unicorns, Fairies etc... until it shows up on the Ford website with the official order guide. No one is eligible unless they're currently in or a civilian and they're overseas meeting the qualifications like I said. People stateside aren't eligible for this program either, it's only for people overseas for a decently long term.So a military Officer retired after 30+ years of service is not eligible?
Sounds so discriminative? Current standing shouldn't disqualify anyone with a Military history serving their country? Right?
There are plenty of people who've served before and all have done their part to help. I am not saying I don't value and respect his service. But there is a difference between currently serving and being retired. Two totally different situations...WOW that sucks... My dad would feel his value as having served and having been overseas would put him in a different light in the eyes of his peers and those currently serving.
I see him as a hero on a par with any Military personnel serving then or now.
Oh well...just more craziness about the world we live in. Still very demeaning when you think about it.
Also...Overseas? So they have a car waiting for them when they get back home? Or are these going to be shipped to where they serve? Not really getting the whole concept...still if there are requisites based on serving status...its is actually discriminative by definition. If there was no requisites on current active duty status then it would be indiscriminate.

If you're going to claim it's discrimination, then why not offer it to anyone who's served before, not just those who are retired and/or have done overseas service? And what about those people who have very short stints in the military and get out due to medical issues? Your argument is a very slippery slope.
Also, I don't see how or why you should get your dad to buy you a car due to his status, to me that is an abuse of the program. The vendor is the one running everything, and they have the ability to put limitations or qualifications on it just like Ford does with their incentives. If you went to a dealer and tried to get the Military Bonus Cash by saying your dad is retired, do you think they'd really go for it?
To answer your other questions, if you're overseas for a permanent place of duty, such as Germany or Japan, then you can get the car shipped to you. If you're like me, out in the desert and not allowed to have a vehicle, then it will be built and delivered for you to pick up at a dealer that participates in the program at a date of your choosing.

Regardless of who you are and what branch you're in and where you're stationed.... The whole concept is already on a slippery slope. It purely qualifies based on active duty not time served. For example a retired officer with multiple commendations should be more worthy of the opportunity than a current officer pushing pencils overseas and getting medals for perfect attendance. Not trying to be rude... but just offering perspective that is more true than false.
