Choices of which cat-back exhaust to go with has come down to these two. I've watched countless videos on each one. From what I can tell through video, the ARH sounds like a deeper tone.

Looking for input from someone who has heard from one, or both of them.

Questions:

1. Drone - how is the drone on the ARH? The S-Type?

2. Volume - how loud is the ARH? S-Type?

In comparison to each other?

Also which vendor should I go with for the exhaust?

I have the S-Type. I haven't heard from the ARH but can give you some comparison to Borla's ATAK and Corsa's Double-X.

1) Absolutely no drone at all.

2) Loud, but not as loud as the ATAK or Corsa's Double-X. The S-Type is actually louder and deeper than I anticipated from watching various sound clips online, it has a nice baritone resonance as you're climbing from 2500 to 4000 RPMs, giving that sinister V8 menacing growl/rumble. Beyond 3500 (imo) is a too much for "civilized suburban neighborhood driving" - however earlier shifts helps you control how loud you actually want to be. WOT transforms the S-Type into a thunderous, screaming beast - less deep though. You can't hear it at all cruising highway speeds.

I haven't heard the ARH so I can't chime in on that.

I absolutely love my Borla S-Type, the shop I got it installed at told me that it's their favorite sounding setup as well compared to the other S550 exhausts! Team Beefcake had awesome customer service and the best price on this exhaust.

I have the ARH. No drone after 800 miles or so driving. Nice deep tone but not overly loud. I get a lot of compliments and no complaints from the GF so just right to me ha.

I haven't heard the Borla S so can't compare but ARH definitely not over the top at 3500+ or WOT, just loud and still deep, no rasp.

Borla S was on my short list too. I don't think you would go wrong either one honestly.

No drone with ARH. It's also the type of exhaust where if you want to be quiet you can, but when you got WOT people will hear you from far away.

Both sound great and we've ran them both. I prefer the ARH a little bit more, quality is never an issue and I really like the tone.

I was leaning towards ARH myself, in the videos it sounds really nice. The S-Type is nice as well. Why does this have to be so hard?

It's not hard--- ARH. You should be buying a system based on warranty and customer service as well. Borla has the same warranty but ARH has unbeatable customer service.

I have ARH, and like people have said at around 55 mph and up you wouldn't even remember you have an aftermarket exhaust. At lower speeds/heavier throttle inputs it is loud, and at idle is has a pretty quick and low, deep idle. Also not overly loud, but enough to make itself known. No issues with drone at all.

I previously owned the ARH and have heard the s-type in person (albeit not for very long). You won't be disappointed either way, but I would note the following:

- agreed with the previous comment that the s-type is louder and deeper than it appears to be in video
- The s-type is definitely louder
- the ARH sounded slightly deeper
- the ARH's volume is very controllable. And while it doesn't scream like other systems, I consider it to be sufficiently loud (but "loud" can be subjective).
- no issues with drone and excessive cabin noise with the ARH. I can't speak to what the s-type sounds like in the cabin.
- the tone of the ARH is completely on point imo
- it's already been stated over and over again but ARH's customer service is great.

If there's any way for you to hear either in person before buying, i strongly suggest you do it. If not, flip a coin : D

May I ask what cat-back system you have now Farmundeh? Why did you get rid of your ARH?

I wanted something LOUD for the summer, as in header-like volume but without having to tune the car. So I went with the Roush axleback + MRT H-pipe combo. But me switching exhausts is in no way a reflection of how I feel about the ARH catback. I think it's a great choice for those looking for that classic muscle-car sound. And again, what people consider loud is incredibly subjective, but I can appreciate how controllable the volume is with the ARH. Especially after having my current setup on the car for about 2 weeks. The roush + H-pipe is ALWAYS loud.

If/when I go with headers, i'll likely switch back and run the full ARH setup with the H-pipe.
