Douche-bags...they're everywhere. Most body shops offer free estimates...going to be a pretty steep repair cost I think. At the minimum: entire front clip will need to be repainted, if they can fix the bumper & nose. Splitter will need to be replaced.

People are ridiculous. I was meeting my brother and his wife for a drink to celebrate her birthday Friday night. It was on a Main St where there isn't much parking, so everyone was parrallel parking on the side of the street. I parked and went to walk in and some jerk in a pickup is trying to parrallel park and doesn't know what he is doing. Slammed the car in front, reversed and slammed the car in the rear. He drove off, parked up the street and walked into the same bar I was going in. I waited a few minutes and both drivers showed back up to their car at the same time. The guy that did it was called out of the bar and his excuse was "well if I did it, I didn't mean to. But if you say I did, then I guess I did". People like that drive me insane. His license should be revoked until he can prove he is a responsible citizen behind the wheel.

Just after seeing this I'm debating on getting a nice dash cam instead of a short shifter. People suck
Never park in NYC.

ALL of the parking that's not in pay-garages is parallel street parking, and it's considered 100% acceptable and expected to "tap" the cars in front of and behind you when parallel parking. Not slam into them, though, just tap.

I'm going to be taking a road trip to NY in July, I rented a 3 bdr 2 1/2 bath house 30 minutes from West Point. My Mom wants to take a drive to the new Stadium (Yankees not Mets) and I said not happening, I'm not taking my car there and driving on the Deegan, after the winter they had the roads will be full of craters.. Between the shitty roads and asshats that cannot park without hitting every car in their vicinity my car will stay upstate and I will take the train to the city.

Damn OP, that sucks! But that is a strange impact mark. That 45° mark looks like the chute on a parking lot sweeper. Does the lot get serviced by a sweeper? If so, time to go Rambo on his ass.

Ugh, that is awful. Sorry to see this. :(

With all these sympathizers, maybe set up a go fund me page? I'd chip in 5 bucks. :p Gotta stick together. :)

Haha, I was up there in December and we parked in a garage, $50 for two hours. WTF! And as we were walking around for a little in the financial district, all the nice cars had little bumpers on the front and back and I figured it was for when they got tapped it wouldn't mess up the front and rear of the car.

$50 for two hours is pretty standard -- the lot I park in is the cheapest I know of in the city, gigantic one in Battery Park City, $30 for up to 12 hours. And yeah, Bumper Buddies -- every car has them for that exact reason. I own one but don't use it because the placement of the rear license plate on the Mustang means that it would block the plate, and I'm too lazy to take it out of the trunk every time I park.

That looks like a little more than a shopping cart. A shopping car would leave a small scuff in the paint or dent but that's down to bare metal and huge spots top and middle of bumper. I can't tell what that'd be from. It doesn't look like another car the way the scratch is.

I have narrowed it down to two things: Bengal Tiger or Grizzly Bear. There is no other explanation.

It also got the front splitter. I mean that thing wouldve had to roll across the lot in some freak accident to get the momentum to make that kind of damage (unless it was a Home Depot heavy cart like those)

I think you can repaint that for $500 or less and keep the insurance out of it. It's also not a metallic color so it shouldn't be overly expensive to hit those areas. A good painter should be able to spray those areas and blend it since its non-metallic paint without having to spray the whole bumper if OP wanted.

After careful analysis it appears someone must have ran over some type of cone road divider, you can see that it scratched downwards, and at the base where it was connected to the pavement it pushed in the lower splitter. I bet there is some damage under the car too. Velocity must have been enough to cause damage.

I don't park mine in any parking lot! If I take it to a store for a fast in and out I park way out and take up two spots. I still get a prick that parks near. And they think they will piss me off by parking close then also. Doesn't make me mad as I know that they will be pissed when they come out and find a big old spit of beechnut chew on their windshield. Think you lord for allowing me the same great job for 19 years so that I have a Ram 1500 for a DD. And I will cry when it gets scratched.

The mustang gas peddle makes the new GF get wet. Took her for a ride in the ram and without saying a word I punched it and made her wet again. The 5.7 hemi in the single cab truck feels faster then the stang. Oh well it's nice having 2 strong ass motors.
