Looking around at youtube vids, articles, reviews, etc... I see that stock Ecoboosts are getting a 0-60 around the mid 5 second range. 5.4-5.8 seems typical.

I can't get better than 6.4, stock. 93 octane in the tank. Now, mine is the base, not the performance package, so maybe that's why -- but a whole second? That seems a little much to lose. However, I'm still in the break-in period, too, so maybe that's it?

Definitely want to do the bama tune + air raid CAI, and maybe upgrade the intercooler -- but before I start all that, I want to know why I'm getting poor stock times and fix that. I'm obviously doing something wrong. Once fixed, then I will have a proper baseline to measure gains from modding.

I'm guessing you're a manual? You'll be quite a bit slower because you can't brake boost, but also, the car requires you to shift to 3rd to hit 60. So even though you're at let's say 57 mph in 5.4 seconds, that extra shift for the speedometer to actually say "60 mph" will screw you over.

No, this is an auto. Though I am using the paddles, and shifting around 6500RPM.

Try shifting at 5800. Your power is already dropping off at 5500.

A ticking time bomb ;)
try brake boosting maybe up to 1500-2000rpm for a better launch also shift at 5500rpm instead try that see if it helps also try brake boosting and not using the paddle shifters
just keep in mind weather, heat soak and many other factors contribute to your time. you will not get your best time trying at 2pm vs 10pm when its a little cooler
instead of "maybe" upgrading your intercooler i would highly suggest you do, i live in San Antonio and the summer is of course around the corner i can already feel the difference in how the car reacts to heat soak and a warmer climate it feels very sluggish...

dystopic - That's definitely on the interesting side considering you're running 93 octane in the tank but I think it's actually pretty on point. When we received out EcoBoost it was really on the sluggish side and while I didn't have a G-tech or anything to measure it felt like it was pulling 7 second times. Being said I'd love to see some of these EB's nailing 5.4 times as they're likely "factory freaks" I've seen a mildly modified EB somewhere on YouTube nail consistent 5.5 times but this was with a CAI, Chargepipe, FMIC, etc. I think an intercooler along with a front mount would definitely help paired with a Bama X4 Tuner - Let me know when you're about to have the order made and I'm happy to help facilitate the process!

Let me know if you're to have any other questions and I'm here to help!

Yes, it really pulls power... Just be careful with it :)

I use race mode on mine, and can pull 5.5 consistently. (auto in S). You could try brake boosting, but I haven't had much luck with it. It lights up the tires. I also don't have a PP car.

I will try that tonight and report back with the results.

Once I establish the baseline numbers on this car, I'll be moving forward with some mods. That being said, it's going to be a gradual process. One mod at a time. I'm not made of money (gah, with the economy these days, who is?). What's the lowest hanging fruit, so to speak, for the first mod? The tuner?

Hearing you loud and clear on this one!!

I would get some baseline numbers first - It's a great way to see what you're working with as there's factory freaks out there ( Some cars just make more power than others right off the showroom floor)

This is honestly the best way to go about modding as well in my opinion because I've gone both routes - Throw 5-7k into something, have something break, circle around and start fresh and then on the flip side mod slow. Gradual is the name of the game (Just my .02) but it's more fun to install something, see, feel, and experience the improvement and then do it all over again. (Baby Steps)

For what it's worth as per the lowest handing fruit and what to do first if anything I would shoot for the Bama X4 Tuner right out of the gate. Not even from a sales perspective but from how I've personally modded cars in the past Domestic/import/ It's always the first thing that was done followed by a Cold Air shortly thereafter. They literally go hand in hand with each-other.

Let me know if you have any questions at all, I'm always around to help!

I'd go with a tune first then a FMIC then a downpipe. The stock intake breathes pretty good and you'll need an upgraded FMIC to make good, reliable power. From there, I'd do a downpipe and/or cat-back.
