I'm not too familiar with tuners and how they work but I'm looking at getting the jlt cai or possibly airaid. I know the jlt requires a tune. Is there any chance a tuner can cause problems with the car? How complicated is it to get a custom tune?

A CAI such as Steeda's will let you install it without a tune, then later if you want to tune it you remove the restrictor then tune it.

Does any one brand cai have a benefit over the others?

HP is going to be minimal (even over stock). Quality is what to look for. From my research, if I was going CAI, I would look at either JLT or Steeda.

Yep those would be my top in my opinion, the Steeda has the option of no tune needed. I chose Steeda.

I love how he is asking questions about tuners and it turned into a CAI thread...
Lol. I guess cai was half of my question. Depending on the cai I choose I might not need the tune. But if I decide to get both which tuner would you guys recommend?

SCT is probably the most popular. But I would first decide if you are going to need a tune then purchase the tuner with the tune at the same time.

That's the part im confused about. You can get a custom tune when you buy the tuner. Or is it a generic tune that's on the tuner?

Most will send you a base tune to run it, then data log and then they will customize the tune for you.

Livernois is one I will be going with. They sell their own tuner with their custom remote tunes. They have great feedback here on the forum. They are top notch as is their customer service and presence here on the forums.

SCT alone only gives you a strategy tune, the ability to add your gear ratio, rev limiter, fuel oct, add your intake, and couple others just to base a universal strategy for your car. Buying a Bama X4, Lund X4, etc. will give you a much better tune and extremely accurate.

We have already tuned hundreds of 2015's! We make it as easy to custom tune your car as it could ever possibly be!

The tune required JLT and the Airaid CAI's both make the exact same line for line power on a dyno with the hood closed.
