Has anyone seen a P061B error yet. I have been getting this one recently and wonder if it falls in the same boat as everyone else. I don't want to waste time at the dealer if they don't have a solution yet.
I dont think so.. the codes that are being thrown for me and a few others are p0300 and other misfires. my car's cold start idle is rough

I haven't seen or heard of anyone having that one. Have you experienced any difference(s) in the way the car acts?

MassAirFlow sensor?? Did you switch the air filter?

If I google your code, I can also find this:

ISSUE:

Some 2005 F-150 vehicles equipped with the 5.4L 3-valve engine and automatic transmission, built 8/23/2004 through 1/15/2005, may exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P061B and/or P2106. This condition may occur during a cold start combined with a rapid transmission gear engagement.
ACTION:

Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration level using WDS release B35.4 or higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com.

No, the car goes into limp mode due to check engine light but it drives normal once I clear the code, no power loss or anything out of the ordinary. The little research I ve seen online could point to leak in intake allowing unfiltered air or MAF sensor malfunctioning. I gotta look at that. If I get it again I'm gonna take it in.

That is really interesting as the code only happens when I first start the car and put it in gear for the first time in the morning. But it only happens about once a week so that is also strange.

Anyone else have updates? I cleared the code and ran some fuel cleaner through it. I'm 99% sure it'll come back but whatever. Worth a shot for $7.

Seriously though, what can cause a random misfire at idle on a brand new car that's intermittent? It's not a full blown misfire, the only symptom that's noticeable is the rough idle on a cold start. The symptom is identical to my previous car when it needed it's idle air control valve cleaned or throttle body cleaned out. The idle fluctuates up and down a little bit. Once the car gets warmed up, the idle is fine.

I've replaced the spark plugs and other members have replaced other valves and sensors. Anyone check the fuel injectors? Clearly not a coil pack since it's random and not the spark plugs. Gotta be fuel related?

Since my ECU relearned everything + the fuel system cleaner and 94 gas I have put roughly 1,000 KM's into the car.Car is now fully broken in and drives beautifully. CEL has NOT come on since.

I strongly recommend those of you who are still having issues to put in quality gas, Techron + force your ECU to relearn. Either have the dealership reset the ECU (not just clear the CEL code), or disconnect the battery for 10 minutes.

Sidenote; I have never been able to get the EVAP system to show completed during my OBDII scans. At this point I could care less as long as that CEL doesn't come back on.

My cel still has not come back on since last Wed. Put about 550 miles on it since then. Had taken it in for the PO300 before that. I'm curious about what you describe as a rough idle. When I start mine I'll notice the tach fluctuate a bit between 1200 and 1000, but I wouldn't say it's rough. It seems to start out revving around 1200 til it settles around 1000. It settles at a smooth idle well before the engine is warmed up. May just be the way it's designed. The engine revs smoothly if I give it some gas, but if I let it idle it will have that fluctuation for the first minute or so. I'd bet that's not unusual. It runs great. I'm starting to think the intermittent cel is a software issue. Haven't heard anything from my service guy at the dealership. I'll post if I do.

My car will always idle at 1200 to 1500 after long cold starts. Give it 2.5 minutes and it will drop to a regular idle or 800-900. This has been the case for all the cars I have owned and I believe it is totally normal.

High idles are normal on a cold start. but it's not normal for the idle to fluctuate and shudder

I did had this on last Saturday. RPM did fluctuate on a traffic light and I thought the engine would stall. RPM were between 700 - 900. I will watch it the next couple days.

My RPM needle is very finicky prior to fully warmed up. Shudder is felt also sometimes. I'm blaming the shudder on the fuel filter, same thing happened in my old car. Once I changed it, it was fine, unsure about the RPM fluctuation.
