- Silver will be, by far, the easiest to keep looking clean, even when it's not
- In sunrise/sunset light, the glow of the car is fantastic (pic below)

Why, of course. Silver also looks great with wheels. It looks like you're in charge and not trying to compensate for some inadequacy or other.

And it was the color of my '63 Stingray. Don't forget that!

Go for silver. They have a guard in the showroom near me and it's really bland. It's not ugly but IMO it really doesn't pop. Maybe that's better for some people... Here's my xkr in silver /w black.

Are you getting a spoiler at some point? I find the body needs something there, but it's all subjective. : )

johnkeel`s smartest choice was ordering his new S550 Mustang with Option 13D "Spoiler Delete". Thats how I ordered my Base V6 Convertible in Race Red with Option Package 051A plus the Spare Tire. The vehicle looks absolutely stunning (minus) the Blade Spoiler, IMO.

I also got mine with the delete. I think the kick-up in the trunk lid by itself looks amazing. The V6 spoiler is very blah, and IMO detracts from the look. If the GT spoiler (non-PP) were offered I might have gotten it.

Great Minds think alike! When I special ordered my S550 last Sept 2nd, my Salesman informed me that their was (no credit) off the $995 cost of the 051A Package for selecting Option 13D, Spoiler Delete. I told him, if necessary, I would have been willing to (pay extra) to have that Blade Spoiler deleted. When my Convertible arrived in early Jan, after seeing the Vehicle once PDI`ed, he agreed it looked much better (minus) the Spoiler. So glad Ford gave buyers the choice. Not so pleased that Sirius Satellite Radio wasn`t either Standard Equipment or at the very least, a stand alone Option.

It's the 4.2 supercharged with upgraded pulley (+2psi) and tune from etg. I'd say close to 500hp so yes faster then the stang.

To get the better 18" wheels with the V6 you have to get the 051A package for $995 and than you can EXCHANGE your 3.13 axle ratio for the 3.55 for ONLY $395 more. (You have to take the power seat and the spoiler nonsense).

The EcoBoost comes with a 3.31 to begin with. But the same wheels only cost an additional $155 on the eB. The result is that a eB w/18" wheels and 3.31 is $26,280. The V6 with wheels and 3.55 is $26,015. Almost the same price.

So Ford is really subsidizing the eB with the V6 price structure. If you want to take advantage of the V6 as the loss leader the base V6 w/no wheels or axle is the deal.

The much improved 18`` Wheels & Tires plus the Flood Lamps and added Power Driver Sear (with) Lumbar Support still makes that 051A Package a great value. Why not bitch about adding the cost of the Optional Spare Tire and Jack Kit which they charge an additional $195 for too? No one in their right mind is going to forfeit Fuel Economy at the expense of marginally improved performance by opting for the 3:55 axle for an additional $395 when the Standard 3:15 is very adequate and an improvement over MY 14`s standard 2:73. It quite simple, call all in with a V* 5.0 GT or go base V6 with the 051A Package and the Spare Tire. For Convertible buyers its over a 10K savings!

Actually quite a few people on here have the 3.55 axle for the performance increase and I also heard that gear is better for those who do mostly city driving. And for $395 I wish I would have gotten it. That $395 spread over the lifetime of the loan is practically nothing compared to the overall price of the car.

The only thing is that if I get a car, I'm not going to order a car, and there won't be a 051A w/spoiler delete on a dealer's lot. SO I would be stuck with it.

As for the axle ratio, I hear where you're coming from and I appreciate your definite opinion. The 3.15 may be just right. But I think it's a little more complicated than that, like Joe Stang points out.

If you spring for the $995 051A package anyway, then you might as well hold out for the 3.55, because theoretically you'll feel 12.5% more torque through the range, but good luck finding a dealer who has thought it through like that. Maybe in real life it cuts into the feel of the engine and you feel like you're driving an axle ratio and wasting gas. I don't know. But it's hard to find on a dealer's lot (in DIB or RR).

[Oh, and just my opinion, "base V6 with the 051A package and spare tire" really isn't base V6. You can get the eB w/wheels for that.]
