Yep, definitely going to head my local dealership on May 11th and place my order for the 2016 with x-plan. So close yet so far. I really hope Guard Green and Dark Saddle leather are still available for 2016.
Sounds like my plan.

So what was this thread about, again?

I have a 2011 with the Sony (?) system that came with the Electronics Package. It's not MFT but it works OK. It's got NAV built in. I think they only had it as an option for 2 years while they were working on MFT. When I looked at MFT in the 2015 I thought it was actually not that bad.

That being said, I'm kind of bummed that my 2015 won' t be upgradable to Sync 3. It took Ford (or their supplier) 4 years to come up with a map update for my other system. And I paid...

Ford just announced key dates for 2016 Mustangs ...
  • Order Banks open May 11th
  • Scheduling begins June 11th
  • Job #1 is August 3rd
These dates are subject to change, as always, so stay tuned for more info.

Any idea when they will be making the RHD versions?
Will it be before they shutdown the 2015 production line - or after the 2016 line is started?
Will they be making RHD versions "side by side" with the LHD versions - or will they be made in one batch?

Aussie mate - I'm hopeful by the mere fact that they are making us wait so long down under, that we get the benefit of the 2015 spec being stopped before production for Australia begins. That said, some components (such as line lock) won't be included in Australia so I won't be surprised if our builds include the older / outdated head units

Absolute no on that one, UK cars will have Sync 2
Still don't get it I'm afraid. Our cars (UK) go into production when MY16 has already started so why would they put the older components on these?

1st Job on 2016 cars is beginning of August, our cars start in September with delivery in November which to be honest will be lucky if that happens so lets say Dec-Jan so this is during 2016 production.

Can you share where you got the info from please?

The specifications for each country isn't identical and therefore leaves ford open to different runs on the production line. The only logic we can assume is that either
The older head units are cheaper
Ford has an Abundance of the older units still in storage

In Australia's example - as there are 1000 deposits already placed for the mustang and some 17000 people with expressions of interest - the need to put the latest infotainment product is not a high priority (the car will walk off the lot as it hasn't been sold here from dealerships in over ten years)

In the USA however where the market is more competitive the need to continue to upgrade the car with the latest technology is more critical

Simply economics

Forgot to add - the mustang won't be available in Australia until December so it's way past the end of 2015 production year run

So the overseas markets won't be able to get the 50 year appearance pack? That sucks!

Lol if I have to buy the grill as spare parts / from a panel shop - there's always a way ( I hope!)

Ok understand the above and appreciate it  still a shame though and some info from Ford UK would be great but we are getting zero info at present :frusty:

I went ahead with the 15. The sync 3 is no big deal to me, i almost got a base car. Now in 2017 we will likely see meaningful(to me) changes like engine / transmission revisions.

AFAIK Ford said that the SYNC3 would start to show up in models with the MY2016. Nothing was said of it showing up in ALL FORD MY2016 vehicles. I see them putting it in the big best sellers first... so the F150? :D

The 50th AP Grille apparently costs US $980 from Ford Parts... I've found ONE on Ebay (slightly used) for (currently) around US$320. Add shipping and taxes... :-/

Personally I think the grille for the Ecoboost is too big with only the pony in there, it needs something to break it up, either the GT fangs or the 50th Corral ... which I actually think would look great with the EU Custom/Premium pack which adds chrome window surrounds...

Sync 3 will allow you to use your smartphone map apps according to the site.
You can already use turn by turn from your smart phone over blue tooth in the current model. You just won't have the map.

So sync3 is pretty much for premium?
