Would it be possible to get a list of all the exhausts and their power gains?

If you're doing headers and axle back, you will get the greatest gain by going with a COMPLETE system, so as to reduce the transitions/restrictions between each section.

I know SW and ARH both offer complete systems.

If you are looking to piece it together, you could do something like an ARH Axle Back right now, and then order their "Bottle Neck Eliminator" header to axle back system, designed specifically so you dont have the bottle neck of a mismatching of exhaust pieces. This is specifically why I ordered their exhaust. I appreciate their modular approach.

nice. thanks guys. i feel stupid now.

so on that note, for someone somewhat on a budget, if I want to get decent power upgrade and change the sound. you'd recommend...

axleback exhaust
headers
cai
tune

no catback necessary? that would save several hundred dollars.
Another thing to remember.....these are relative numbers, and the relevancy is to a manual trans car being on the dyno and not the A6
which would see even more parasitic HP/TQ losses.

You could start with an axle or cat back to get a really nice sound, save up some cash, then go for the headers later. Or, if you're looking for power over sound keep the stock exhaust, save a little then get the Paxton supercharger which I think right now is priced for just a little more than my ARH exhaust system.

I got the mbrp cat back coming from beefcake , I was looking for some sound over the stock system .. HP gains ? ... well I'm sure it will gain a little and every little bit helps me get closer to my goals .. If i add a Procharger down the road I'm sure they will be more helpful than they would on a stock motor .. For the price of the mbrp cat back it's a good deal over just getting a axle back system and I get to toss that heavy and funny looking resonator at the same time ..That should free up some room and rid some extra weight at the same time ..

how much weight savings are we talking about when you get a catback?

possibly another stupid question, but what's the point of a catback if it doesn't add much power, and an exhaust will make a relatively good noise compared to a catback, for much cheaper.

If you're looking for power I would just save up for the supercharger and run the stock exhaust if I wanted power for dollar value. Lots of guys like the sound of the catback systems and the weight savings but they are an expensive purchase for a limited power addition. For a true "performance exhaust" which adds somewhat noticeable power you'll have to go to headers which are proven to add power. Just keep in mind that a full exhaust system, say an ARH, Kooks, or SW will be $3000+.

One thing I forgot to mention is if you run a supercharger with the stock exhaust and run the car hard often it will probably burn up the cats which since they're integrated into the stock exhaust manifold you will probably just end up with headers anyway:)

so you're saying catback over simple axleback exhaust is

catback has more weight savings, slightly better sound compared to axleback, but quite a bit more expensive

burn up the cats? the cat converter? or the stock exhaust you mean. (be patient im new to this)

edit: i may consider a supercharger in like 2-3 years, but a bit too expensive for me for now, and i want to get used to this power first before i upgrade haha.

A catback saves about 30lbs or so. I know my Roush axle backs saved 20lbs. I weighed them and confirmed.

Sound would be a preference when it comes to axle or cat back. yes there is weight savings with the cat back since it deletes the resonator.
The catalytic converter is the item I'm talking about. A friend of mine burned through two sets of Kooks high performance cats in a little over a month. Can't imagine the stock ones would hold up for long if driven hard.
