Down here, the downside of being a mustang owner is everyone automatically assumes you're in the military. Most mustang owners here are military or caucasian, very few polynesians own mustangs.
Downside of being a S550 owner for me is when people assume that....

I don't give a rats ass what people think, I didn't buy my Hell Chariot for them, I bought it for me. I can have the same fun in this that people have in an M4, for a whole lot less money.

I'm a 5'8 Wesley Snipes black service member (Air Force /12 years). My wife is exactly 6ft tall, is a blonde Caucasian, and has fake tits bolted to her chest. I have two half breed kids. My decision to pick a Mustang over other cars won't break me, and shouldn't bother any of you.

In just four months time (about 7k):

- big rock chip on the hood
- minor chips in front fascia
- chipped windshield (truck threw up a rock)
- car was egged (one spot broke paint)
- flat tire/nail, incapacitated by fix-a-flat
what the hell?

do you work on a construction site or something?

also, who the hell eggs cars?

Young people in Italy can't wait to see the mustang in person

My wife and I stayed in a family owned hotel in the southern part of Italy in 2013. The young staff that worked there went nuts when they saw my Shelby T shirt. Every time I came downstairs they wanted to see pictures on my iPad of my Mustangs. These guys in their 20's were very excited to talk all day about mustangs . They see Ferrari's all the time but not stangs
Very soon they will see mustangs and believe me they can't wait.

Mustangs in Italy

It might be hard to get a mustang down some streets in Italy. But out in the country side it will do just fine.

Upside of being a Mustang owner coming from a BMW: people no longer make assumptions about me being an asshole that can't use a turn signal.

Downsides of being a Mustang owner: I keep hearing cliche stereotypes thrown my way, "your car is cool... but, it's like a hick car... you know? I mean, not that you're a hick or anything." Gee, thanks, that really softens the blow there bud.

Downsides of owning an S550 in particular: ------- small radius turns in tight parking areas. Cue Austin Powers multi-point turn in hallway scene.
I know the feeling. Then again there are a lot of "hicks" driving older mustangs so i guess it was earned on some level. I was dropping my daughter off at her elementary school on Monday, there was an early 2000's mustang in line that was obnoxiously loud and puffing smoke. He drops his kid off then proceeds to gas up just getting to the pull out lane. As soon as he gets a break he peels out sideways full throttle until he reached well over the speed limit(in a school zone) This clown had everyone looking(and laughing) at him. There are quite a few of these clowns around my area driving mustangs. BMW drivers have their faults but acting in this manner was never one of them.

TBH, I just as many hicks driving old BMW's, Civics, pickups than hicks who drive old Mustangs.

You don't see any hicks (least where I'm at) driving a 2005 and newer Mustang. In fact, usually the only ones I see driving Mustangs around here are younger professional guys, chicks (with the v6's) and older gentleman.

But, race speaking, you don't see many other races driving Mustangs. I was one of the only black males I know who drove a Mustang GT. Didn't really see much of that. I see the Mustang as more of a "white" persons car than I do a "redneck" car. To me, there's a difference.

What I have noticed are a lot of Porsche caymen drivers always seem to be speeding. Maybe they are trying to show everyone that they are not the stepchild to the 911. But I agree a very LOUD mustang burning rubber on a city street looks foolish to most car guys.
What's worst is when you pass a person on a expressway 3 lanes on ramp going 40 mph they always give you the finger or flash their stupid lights. This is the only place close to my house where I can enjoy her. To that person I probably look stupid but WTF is this person doing 40 mph when entering a 70 mph highway. Oh yeah they are on the phone also.

True...where I live black dudes are either rolling in chargers or challengers as far as muscle cars go. Mustangs have always been a white guy's (think white man's impala) car same as a vette.

Yeah no love for black guys driving Mustangs. The amount of looks you get in the DC metro as a black male not driving an Audi, Merc, Lexus, or Jag... Or the insane amount of V6 Camaros on DUBs around here.

Well this was a 50th Bday present to myself, I literlly rememebr the first Mustang I saw in 1968, it was a 65 Honey Gold, and I thought that is one cool car.

So no it isn;t just a car.

Cool story I had someone follow me home, and gauck over my S550, so I have never that happen, so yeah pretty cool.

Forget the tight streets, the mustang turns like a fricken boat! Turning radius is huge!!

How did that work out for old AAron in the playoffs? Can you say sucked?
I'm not a Packers fan, but seeing as they're deep in the playoffs every year, the advice can't be too bad. One bad coaching decision away from a SB trip.
