The new mustang is a great car, we all agree. It seems however better checks at the dealer at time of delivery can help us all...

What should we look at ?
I'm looking to collect all the info on things to check at delivery based on your eventual bad experiences....

All the feedback from different posts in a nutshell :
- Take your time and check it all out! Don't let enthousiasm carry you away.
- Body panel alignment/fitment.
- Door trim panels (different between left and right door)
- Check Mufflers aligned one to the other?
- Uneven rear Windshield
- Leather from seats is getting lose (at delivery or after a few Km's driving)
- Make sure when opening doors it doesn't hit/scratch the fenders
- Scratches on the wheels

Body panel fitment is number one. My fitment is Fu*ked , I saw the car in the day time and did my final walk around at night. The car looked great until I got home. Now I'm stuck.

Take the time to check 'everything' that comes to mind. Better to force the dealership to fix problems before you pay for the car...than begging them to do 'warranty' service days or weeks later. More than one forum member has come back and said they wish they had taken the time to really look over their new pony.

The one thing that would be a dealer breaker for me taking delivery would be the uneven rear windshield. Most of the other problems can be fixed pretty easily by a body shop, but I would not want the dealer putting on another windshield.

Sometimes this is impossible.

In my country if the car is special order (which means NOT in stock) they ask you to pay the full balance when the car sits in customs warehouses. They afraid the case of regret !

Which means you pay the whole amount BEFORE seeing it.

Of course all Mustangs consider as a special order cars....I don't believe that local dealer is willing to stock such a model...especially with the current economical crisis.

Don't worry! My Mustang has a couple alignment issues, what I think is normal for the first one build, but your dealer / body shop should fix that in no time. The point I am making? If your dealer doesn't like to fix it - that's where the problems are starting. :faint: BTW. There are plenty of pictures in the issues thread. http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=102

The leather seats are a thing I wouldn't have expect at all! (Leather is getting lose!!)

What do you mean exactly ? Pictures? I didn't see any related to the seats in the door panel thread.

"Untamed67": do a leather search. There are multiple complaints about the seat leather being loose at delivery, but more often leather loosening up during the first few miles of driving. Some looseness can be corrected by heating the leather, but it appears that most of the time the leather has to be removed to tighten it. There have also been reports of bad stitching and seams pulled apart.

I plan to take photos of the seats at delivery, even if they look fine. Ford is trying to say that loose leather occurring soon after delivery is 'normal'.

Does this happens mostly on perforated leather seats (climate control seats) or to all leather seats?
