Just read this on CT (avoid the comments section, obviously!)

http://www.carthrottle.com/post/5-subtle-design-differences-between-us-and-euspec-ford-mustangs/

They've been at the Geneva Motorshow and seen the new EU 'stang in the metal. The first 4 differences we already know about but the daytime running lights is a new one to me.

Think they just confused the front turn signal above the fogs with the DRLs? I see no reason why Ford would remove them. Almost all EU cars have DRLs in that position (just look at Audi who started the trend for the thin LED "necklace" ).

Thoughts?

I think it means the fog lights are used as DRLs, and the gill slit lights only come on when the headlights are on.

They might be just like in Canada. The gill slight lights are on all the time, but the fog lights are the true DRLs. That's why fogs are standard in Canada.

So I was just looking at that article you posted, and would love to know what the heck hood vents have to do with safety legislations.
Pedestrian crash standards. Probably due to some underlying structure beefed up to support the "holes" for the vents.

In Europe they assume a pedestrian is at some point going to be flying across or over your hood and they have regulations against protrusions and whatnot.

If you dare to become a pedestrian in the UK, trust me, becoming hood fodder is not outside of the realm of possibility. I speak from (near death) experience :ninja:

Spend a few years in Shanghai - London is a tame toddler stroll after that!
True, though I was in Birmingham - nothing to do there other than drink, so the drivers are a bit worse than London

Considering that other European manufacturers have managed to have rear light clusters that are all red yet show amber when the indicators are in use I'm dissapointed that Ford haven't been able to manage it.

After all the red tri-bar lights are Mustang.

If this is true with the tri-bar lights, this would really suck.

IMHO - Those mirrors are UGLY, look like elephant ears. The transparent tail lights are meh, the lack of DRL tri-bars is horrible (its such a signature piece of the car) and like Varekai, I'm wondering what the hell a heat extractor (rearward facing too) has to do with pedestrian safety. Meanwhile, most Europeans are driving around in pint size death boxes - I dont get it.

The rumor went up a few months ago.
On Vienna Auto Show they showed the EU stang with the front tribar DRL. The EU stang in Paris didnt have these, so it seems like Ford changed that. This article is not a good source, since it's not mentioning a lot of other differences the EU stang has (fake gas cap without 50th anniversary, etc)

Didn't the Ford designer say that they were not making a Mustang for different countries but were making the US Mustang for the World, or similar words to that effect.
