I was noticing the other day that I open my hood my engine that it clean but I notice some water marks around the stock aire box is on the drive side and on the passenger side I also notice around the same area, also the hood liner or I not know that is called the black thing under the hood it also had some water marks. So water is getting in when a wash the car I think its in the hand free washers, because of the water pressure. I not care much about water getting in the engine bay, but I going to get a CAI and not what to ruin it by get it wet. Has any one else notice this?

Several other GT owners have reported water getting into the engine compartments through the hood scoops, when the vehicle was stationary (rain/car wash). The biggest worry was that the hood 'insulation' blanket had started to water log. I wonder just how much water/weight that wet blanket will impose on the hood?

I think it's not that much water my only concern is if I put an open box cold air intake will the filter get wet and be ruin, and may be with a cold air intake the water may make it in the engine if it's a lot, I don't know how much does get in.You have nothing to worry about because with the stock box nothing happens and there's no way for water to get in your intake or inside your engine from the scope because your stock intake is closed.

Right now I can verily see the water mark on the insulation may be with time it will get worse as I only have 3 months with the car. I hope if something does happen to the insulation like if it starts to tear o hang or something that its covered under warranty .

I just looked at mine JLT air intake, and found a little bit of water standing in the bottom of the plastic box.
You brought up a good point, I must check more often to get the water out, especially with the snow we have here now.

Apart from looking good what do the scoops do?

Apparently we don't get them on the UK models. Problem due to all the rain we get. lol

Scoops are to allow better air flow to the brakes

You guys are kidding right now? I hope you are not driving in reverse when it rains. Search online the winter test FORD did on the GT350. The open air filter is half frozen. Water gets through the grill when you drive too. You guys are funny! :D

According to Ford, they hood scoops are "heat extractors" to vent excess heat from the engine bay during high performance operation, as well as to lower the air pressure from the engine bay during high speed operation thus creating a negative pressure situation to help the car hold the road better.

The lower front air dam on the PP is designed with vents to cool the brakes.

May be I did not make my self clear there is no problem with the engine bay engine compartment the out side of the engine what ever you what to call it getting wet nothing is going to happen from that, may be the title should have been "hood scoop + cai problem".
My question was that had anyone with a cai had any problems with the filter getting wet and ruined or anything like that? Duttch has the only one that actually check his cai.

The only concern I can think of that might cause an issue would be if the engine was REALLY hot and you get hit by a cold down pour that makes direct contact with the engine block. I'd have to see exactly where the pits are and what is under them. Water won't really get into your engine from a little moisture around the intake, that's what the filter is for.
