I know. I just find it unusual to see people so openly talking about it.
Makes no difference for me, anyone can google my exact situation.

Someone was curious about the type of people and walks of life which decide to purchase mustangs and how they go about affording it. No big deal, it's not like we are giving our life's secrets away.

I work for the Ford Motor Company. Got hired this past July. I'm a pipefitter in the skilled trades department and am a member of UAW Local 249. I work at the Claycomo assembly plant where we make the F-150 and the Transit van. I work on the Transit side in the paint department where we support the line, maintaining it keeping it running at all times. I was a member of the Kansas City Pipefitters Local Union 533 since 2000 when I got in for my apprenticeship. I will still maintain that membership just in case something ever happens to Ford as a fallback just in case. I'm very fortunate and am making very good money. I work a ton of overtime. I work seven days a week, 12 hour days. Since I hired July 7, 2014, I've had 10 days off. As of last week I've made $80,000. A full year and I can probably eclipse $200,000. I won't continue this pace for the rest of my life, but will for a few years. I'm doing this for my family, my future. I will be debt free, no house payment, car payment, nothing, within 18 months easily. Did I need this new Mustang? Absolutely not. Did I want it? Hell yes! I'm sacrificing literally 50% of my life right now to better my family so do I have a problem throwing myself a bone in the form of a bright red Mustang? Hell no!

Wow, I don't know how you do it; that's a whole heap of perseverance. Very impressive. When do you find time to enjoy your family and cool car?

Well, there isn't any good way to hide 12 hours of work in every day without affecting life. But, luckily my shift is ideal. 11 pm to 11am. I get home and sleep 4-5 hours. I'm up before dinner, get to spend late afternoon, dinner and put kids to bed. Couple hours with my wife and then leave to work. Basically I've swapped normal work and sleep times and I'm one of these guys who's is fine on about 5 hours sleep.

Now over 2.5x's that and I'm still hesitant on dropping 40k on a new mustang.
Similar, and live in cheap middle America. No real debt or responsibilities (divorced a few years ago w/ no kids) to speak of, 10 more years on house. $30k+ is a lot for something I can't use everyday and is ultimately not that unique. Wanting an EB, but just can't pull the trigger...waiting to check out GT350...

We'll see...probably end up building another car.

I'm 38 and an insurance claims adjuster and let's just say I make less than 30k a year... Married and have a 7 year old son. Yes I know I can't afford this car. I don't care. Life is short. I'm not getting any younger so I figured it's now or never...

26, Business Analyst for an insurance agency. Making 45k base salary plus commissions. This year that puts me somewhere in the neighborhood of ~85K after taxes. Plan on building a tiny house (~450sqft) in two years with a large detached garage so i can work on the cars.

Going to be getting my GT in the Spring once the weather is nicer. May get the GT350 too depending on price and practicality. Haven't really thought that through yet but I am young and naive so I am liable to make some poor financial decisions ;)

Assistant Manager at a grocery chain, 42k a year. Put down a 8k down payment on my mustang from a 401k loan, made it affordable. Still get one free paycheck a month to put towards the mustang for goodies (tho I always get nagged at by the fiance for just not paying off the stang earlier)

Realize I'm an outlier but I'm 26 and a network engineer - no college degree. I work with two customers primarily but I pull in ~150k. My wife is a sofware developer and makes about the same but with fewer hours. We just had our first kid.
