So today I started my ecoboost (PP) and started driving. Within seconds a giant orange wrench (the wrench of doom) popped up and said "See Manual" and had on "OK" prompt. I hit OK and it went to the small wrench (small wrench of doom). I pulled over and restarted the car and everything was normal. I never noticed anything abnormal with the way the car behaved. The manual says on page 96 that "the powertrain needs service due to a powertrain malfunction" Obviously I'll keep an eye on it and hope it never comes back but has anyone experienced anything similar? I feel that if I take it to the dealer (without the WoD light on) they will keep it for a day and say everything is fine. Any thoughts on this is appreciated.
Thanks

*edit.. what types of issues would this be indicative of??

The wrench light is different than the regular check engine light, it usually indicates an issue with the drive by wire, or electronic throttle body.

Usually, the fault will need to be seen twice to trip a code, but it may have stored one. You can just ask the dealership to check for codes, if there isn't any then just wait and see if it will happen again.

Go to auto zone or your local auto supply store. They can read the code.

You can also put the gauge cluster into "Engineering Test Mode"; I saw a screen in there that lists DTCs (codes).

Here is also another way to do it, not sure of all that gets sent but having my ford sync and touch, you can run a vehicle health report that gets sent into ford... I've done that to mine though a gt premium... a couple times

And don't do it with your parking brake set, otherwise the health check registers a bogus brake problem... :frusty:

So i called ford about this and they said without the light being on they probably couldnt do anything. Basically they said not to worry about it unless it comes back. (probably bad gas) Honestly Im fine with that...im not too concerned. Anyways, i did go into the engineering mode (thanks 15pony) and got the dtc code. Shows up as C21200. I called ford with the code but they said only the techs could know what it meant and to call autozone. I did that but they only know codes that start with P. Soooooo.... anybody know what C21200 means?? Thanks again

Unfortunately, almost all of the codes are generic and provide very little definition outside of providing the tech a starting point. Saying that, here is the best I could find on the code:

Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "D" Circuit
