Yes sir, E70 is plenty of ethanol. From my testing, I did not notice any loss of power due to ethanol content until it got below the E40 range.
Cool, this is great!
Some say Dark Horse doesn't gain as much power on a tune since Ford squeezed it all out.
Saying tuned GT is sme as Tuned DH
Are gains the same on DH sarting at 500hp?

Thanks Mike.
I’ve never really heard of DRP … so just want to make sure they are safe and reputable as well.
I think you will find us to be quite a bit different than the rest...in a good way. I don't sell anything I would not run myself and I honestly try to chat with all my customers...which you don't get from the owners of the bigger outfits.

I haven't had a DH on my dyno, but looking the calibrations over, the gains on a flex tune will be there.

I like that personal touch, seems like we get it less and less these days.
I also received your return call with Voicemail today which was great, sorry I got busy at work.
Maybe I can reach you tomorrow.
Thanks again for your responses.

Ray, is there data logging involved?
Do I start with 93 tune then go e85, then flex or just straight to flex?

Yes I like to look a few data logs just make sure all is perfect, but that is usually only one or two logs.
You can go with any fuel you like from the gate.

In the 2018-23 GT, hpt was lacking some critical parameters needed to make flex work. And since most shops use hpt, they opted out of flex tuning. That may extend to 24+.

Ray mentions at the tail end of one of his videos getting background changes done that aren't typically available in hpt.
Mike, I have always appreciated your feedback on here.
I’m going with Ray’s flex tune on my DH. We had a great conversation today.
One thing I’m indecisive about is redline limiter. What is you opinion on a safe redline for a manual?
I’m not a drag racer but I am a very spirited driver. Car only has 4500 miles on it.

For na I would feel pretty comfortable with the soft limiter at 77-7800, hard limiter at 8000-8200. What does Ray recommend?

I believe ~8500 .. I didn’t know this gen 4 could do that, thought it was a gt350 thing. I’m afraid if I mess up a shift or have a weak spot in my engine that this high of a rpm is unsafe and doesn’t offer a buffer.
Why would Ford leave 1000 rpm’s on the table?
Maybe im just ignorant on this so appreciate the advice

Actually Mike is spot on. I set the limiter to 8200 in most cases with an anticipated shift point around 7800 so your are getting the most out of the powerband but also not hitting the hard limiter.

So Ray, if I miss a shift and rev the car out is it the soft limiter coming into play?
Also if I shift into wrong gear which limiter comes into play or there is none for that?
Lastly when does the hard limiter come into play?

I would set the soft limit to 8000. Soft limit pulls fuel and closes throttle to limit rpm. Hard limit breaks the spark. You probably would never actually hit the hard limiter while accelerating at full throttle unless you were going full throttle down a hill.
The mechanics of the transmission will likely keep you from going too low a gear and spiking the rpms.

Ok, makes sense
Thanks for this explanation.
Just want what’s safest for my internals.
I have messed up and forgotten to shift in time before when I get caught up into the moment.. lol

Understood completely and no worries. So with your DH, you have the same rods as the GT500 and we have a few of those we are spinning to 8600 and making over 1000HP...so you have some extra wiggle room.

At DRP - Ray. I have been following your videos on YouTube for months. I have a '23 M1 - manual. You mentioned in a previous post about the soft and hard limiter settings and strong rods in the DH. With the '23 and previous Coyotes, what is your "safe" limiter settings as I assume my 23 motor would not have the GT500/DH rods? My son has a '19 GT350 and would love to be able to see additional RPM's, maybe not as many as the Gt350 - but maybe closer?
