Help with spring decision

We really wanted to nail down the ride height, to our liking, before rolling forward with the production design. I am very happy with the stance of them, they should be our bread winning springs.

6-8 weeks, I hope to start shipping the Drag and Handling Springs.

For one thing, to me a $50 difference isn't really that much and with the Steeda team on this forum answering in-thread and via PM all the time, I think it's a no brainer.

As I mentioned here and in that post, at that time the guy at Eibach had no idea about PP springs being different and/or if they even tested a PP car.

now we just need actual rates of steeda's then. even if those aren't pp spring rates...the pp spring rate can't be THAT much different.

Then eibach's and steeda's have even higher rate of course.

Either way I was out for similar ride, just lower...and atm eibach won on price/combo deal I got so... there we go...

I still would like to see steeda and eibach drops side by side though.

Mine has 1700 miles on it and the wheel gap in the front is larger than in the rear.

Are you talking about wheel gap or the right height? I am talking about ride height.

My rear height is 28 6/8" and front is 28 3/8".

Oh nice! Any more info you can share on these performance springs? Like their rate? How much does it lower the car? Will they work with the stock PP shocks and struts?

When I lowered my S197 with Steeda ultralites I ended up installing the Steeda ball joints to fix the camber curve from lowering it. We put the car on an alignment rack and put a winch on the k member. As we compressed the suspension we could see the -camber max out and then start moving back towards positive. The x5 ball joints fixed the problem. Does anyone know if this is an issue with the S550?

Looking over some of my notes, and data, I made a mistake. The PP Rear rates are 728lb/in according to our test.

Oh nice! Any more info you can share on these performance springs? Like their rate? How much does it lower the car? Will they work with the stock PP shocks and struts?

Sure!

Rates will be in the 170lb/in range up front, and the rear rates are going to be in the 740lb/in range.

The drop will be approximately 1.3-1.4" Front, and about 1" Rear.

To be honest, I recommend anyone lowering their cars to use atleast the PP Dampers. The OEM Base Dampers are simply too soft.

These new cars rely substantially on the bump stops. A soft damper, with a lower/stiffer spring...and bump stop smashing, is no fun IMO.

I look forward to seeing what dampers become available from various companies like Koni, Bilstein, Steeda, etc.

Hey happy to provide a bit more info, and for the record we have only good things to say about Eibach.

- Our springs lower the car 1" on all four corners.
- Our Sport Springs work great in conjunction with the OE shocks/struts. If you're lowering the car more than 1", we would recommend the use of aftermarket shocks/struts. As an FYI, we are working on a set for the S550.
- The Steeda springs are 25% stiffer than the Performance Pack springs, with little to no sacrifice in ride quality based on the feedback we have received thus far and from our own testing. As you lean into the corners, the rates will exceed the 25% increase in spring rate to merit even less body roll and better handling.
- The end coil rate is also the same as production unlike some other brands.
- We have springs for the GT, V6 and the EcoBoost.
- We have yet to experience/hear of anyone experiencing rubbing issues with our springs even when used with an aggressive wheel/tire setup. If you're going to road race the car with a beefy rear tire setup, we would recommend slightly trimming the bump stops to avoid any potential rubbing as the springs will compress under load.
- After about 5 - 7 days, the springs will settle.

i'll be a first time spring buyer...i'll be using a square fit 19x9.5 on 275/40/19 or 20x10 on 275/35/20 with a GT or EcoBoost...should be easy fit, no rubbing, right?

Exactly, we ran a 20x9.5 and 20x11 with 275/35/20 up front and 315/35/20 out back with zero rubbing and leaving the bumpstops as-is.

Steeda is a great brand from everything I have heard, Eibach is another good brand it all depends on the preference in brand you desire.

yeah front being .2-.4 lower than rear is kinda weird with rear staying on 1"
