I have a 2017 Mustang GT. I noticed a few days ago the fans are constantly running. No AC on and no heater on. I did check the AC to see if it's working and it's blowing hot air. I googled it and read it could be a few things. Anybody else have this issue and know what the solution could be? Please help

Also, all temp gauges are reading normal on the dash. There's a custom tune on my car due to having to replace the IM with a 2018 junkie performance manifold.

What tune? Lund tunes set the cooling fans up for a 170 T stat, the fans were programmed to kick in earlier. For the two years I ran my Lund tune with the stock 180 T stat the fans always kicked on high speed after hitting operating temp. When I put a 170 in last winter that "fixed the problem" and the fans aren't running full speed at normal temps anymore.

It may just be how your tune was setup.

I wonder if the fan has a relay and whether or not it's shot?

I'm guessing tune too unless it didn't start until after the tune. Check your coolant level if you haven't already

Dyno tune by my local performance shop about 8 months ago

I changed the relay(s) and also the temp sensor. The fans are still running and the AC doesn't work when I checked it. I called the shop and he said to have the AC system scanned. Said it may be just an AC issue

This earlier thread is somewhat similar, though not exactly the same: an existing A/C issue was having an impact on the operation of the cooling fans.

I'd look into and get the A/C issue fixed first, see if the fan problems are resolved. It could be you've had a leak and the system is below pressure or out of refrigerant completely.

The coolant is good in it. I feel like I've checked everything on this car. It's paid off (I bought it used in 2020) and really have had nothing but issues with it. I've done all the work except the tune myself. I live in a small town and mechanics and the Ford dealership blame everything on the tune. When my IM went out, there was a back order on the OEM IM so I put a 2018 junkie performance 1320 with lockouts in and had it tuned.

That's a bummer man, I'm sorry for the bad luck you've been having. Hoping once you get the AC fixed it also resolves the fan issue and you can enjoy the car trouble free.

I hope so too. My husband has been trying to get me to sell it since I had to put the IM in. I told him I'll trade him in before I get rid of my car. I want to teach our son to drive it (manual) then he can have it and I'll go get me a the new Mustang Shelby GT350 ;)
