Hi Gents,
I've been trying to decide on a tune since... well, the day I got the car. I'm very impressed by all of the results -- especially Torrie @ Unleashed Tuning -- however, there is a Cobb shop local so I decided to try their AccessPort.
So.... here's a bit of information on it!
Why I chose Cobb Tuning: First and foremost, they're local. I like supporting a local place. I've always liked the look of their AccessPort.
Finally, I wanted to use a tune from a company that I've heard good stuff about. I'm not doing anything crazy for a while -- no turbo swaps, etc for me in the near future. However, they do have a "power map" which I'm likely going to follow.
Pros: It's fantastic. I don't imagine there are any bad tunes you can buy for these cars, but the Cobb tune is nice, just as I expected. Power has picked up, shifts are a bit firmer in "S" (i'm an a6) and power is linear.
Drivability is OEM-style. I now see the gear I'm in at all times, not just when in Sport or using paddles. It's got a lot more grunt, and the car doesn't feel so lazy.
The AccessPort is awesome. Everything is real time, and most of the stuff on the gauges is dead accurate. I am using a 3 gauge setup, showing boost pressure, trans oil temp and charge temp.
Also, the car sounds different since getting it tuned. I'm bone stock, running the 93oct, high boost tune.
Cons: Not really any that I wasn't aware of -- the main one being that they don't do email tune revisions, but it's not like they ever have...
Summary: Overall, I like the tune a lot. It's very responsive, and a huge change that I'm very welcome to. I've improved my 0-60 times too -- my best time stock... only did it once stock... was 5.6s
My best time after the AP, so far, is 5.3s
Car actually spins now. I love it.
