I'd like to know as well..from the stainless works video I kinda thought the h/x pipe sounded the same but was leaning towards the x pipe as I liked the sound better but I'd like some opinions as well I'd think with the flow of the x pipe and high rpm 5.0 the x pipe would be better with its flow characteristics
The X-pipe will flow a little better due the scavanging effect on the heads because of the uneven firing order of the engine but has a mellower tone usually.
The H-pipe is more of a "balance" pipe between the two exhaust pipes and will usually have more of a "bark" to it.
X-pipes usually produce slightly more hp and torque than H-pipes (both make more than stock)
That being said, the tone of the exhaust will very greatly between manufactures out there. (same for backpressure, hp & torque of said systems)
Basically no difference at all in power/torque. X-Pipe is a smoother tone, h-pipe is slightly choppy/aggressive. X-Pipe does not cause rasp. Actual tone of the exhaust will rely mostly on the muffler design, not the crossover.
x pipe is usually worth a few horsepower on an n/a car, a little more on a power adder car.
the h will be deeper, the x will be a little raspier
both sound very good.
we have installed both at the shop, and both sound good, actually have another board member getting one installed as we speak , and he opted for the h.
I still haven't got to listen to them side by side though yet.
there are 2 guys at the dealership one got an x and one got an h. I am waiting for both to drive in on the same day so I can here them side by side
the old school in me likes the h better though from hearing them individually, but both of the SW setups sound killer.
H is deeper, X is raspier as has already been said. The X tends to make a bit more power, but in our opinion you should choose between one or the other based on sound preference rather than HP since the HP gains are so minimal between the two. 5HP is not worth having to deal with a sound you don't like.
