I had somewhat of an issue with mine from Bama which i will be calling on Monday. I did two base pulls on the dyno then proceeded to upload the 91 tune. Once it was uploaded and try doing two more dyno pulls, once the car got to 4300 rpm that was it. The power would just drop dramatically. For whatever the reason, the traction control would come on and stay on. We unplugged the battery top reset the computer, got going again and the same thing. None of this happened before the tune. So, i was left with not knowing the horsepower increase on my car. I do have to say that the car runs fine. No issue there besides the dyno. Also, the traction control was turned off prior to doing all dynos pulls!
Draco - you say the car runs fine; that it's just a problem with the dyno pulls so you don't know what the actual HP increase is.

How about the ole butt dyno results? Can you feel a difference in the power over the stock tune?

Thanks.

On windows 8, you need to install the driver's to use the X4s. This is not new.

If you have a custom tune on the device by a tuner, it will disable the pre-loaded file that is on it. Being its a new car and since 2005, Ford uses different computer codes which require different measures / tuning. If SCT does not have the STRADEGY code, then a tune will not work. A simple call to the tuner and they can get tht adjusted for you. This is for ANY tuner.

When loading tunes in the cars, a lot of the time we like to have a battery charger on it because if it drops voltage, it will corrupt the file and you can have a headache.

If the tuner bricks on you and does not load the tune, return it to stock and try it again but you may have to wait an hour or so.

Tuning these cars with SCT is 100% safe and works. People have gone 9s in them and we have put over 900rwhp through one. Others have done this too recently.

If you are worried about tuning a car, then don't do it and leave it stock.

Thanks for the input. I had both SCT and the Bama tech working on this and then it killed the car. I am reaching out to them for help. On hold as I type!

Thanks for your insight, Steve. One of the questions Bama asked was for ECU number which I located under the hood and provided. I'm assuming this is the computer code that you mention, so I'm assuming my handheld should be good to go?

And I intend to put the battery charger on the battery when I download the tune from the handheld. I don't want the tuner to brick on me.

Thanks again.

Yes that is correct. A better way though is to plug the device in, go under vehicle info and get the 7 digit STRADEGY code. This is the car's true ID #.

You don/t have to use the charger every time but it does help. What I do, is turn EVERYTHING off, doors closed, ect and load it. But if you do it more then 3 times in a short period I would recommend a charger.

Another thing you can do with the SCT Device Updater Software is make sure your handheld device is up to date. If its not, this will also cause some issues with how the car drives.

The old "corrupt file" story.....according to Bama so back to SCT and they are closed on the weekend. My luck. American Muscle did the Bama tune but can't undo what they did.

I have the Superchips for my trucks and no issues at all except the trucks eat back tires. :D

Thanks, Steve. I'll follow your advice and get the stradegy code.

Not really which is a bummer! All I know that after the tune, could not pass 4300 rpm.

i had no issues uploading the tune. The first i did was the update the sct as required prior to uploading the tune to the vehicle. I had to download a file for windows 8.1. it was no big deal. after that, the update to the tune when perfect.

Well this is disappointing news, given that my Bama handheld tuner is about to be delivered and I intend to install the sport tune as soon as I get the FR touring cat backs on.

Any advice from you guys about how I should proceed? I was gonna upload the tune myself but now I'm thinking I should take the car and the Bama handheld to a local performance tune shop and let them load it up.
You can do it yourself, its not hard. Make sure that you update the device prior to uploading the tune to the vehicle.

Perhaps after you get it all straightened out and check the power with a pull, it'll show increased HP and you'll be able to notice a difference.

I'm gonna be bummed if I paid $400 bucks for a tune and I can't tell at least some difference from the seat of my pants.

Thanks.

Will do. We've got a break in some rainy weather so I'm gonna clean the car up. She drives bettor after she's had a bath. :)
