Being Gtechniq CS Ultra I believe it needs to be sanded? I will let him know when I take it back for the front bar. He wouldn't coat it as it had been resprayed and it needed to wait a month or so before being coated.
Looks to be a high spot, which in most cases would be polished off. Sometimes, the high spot can be eliminated by reapplying to the area and wiping straight away. Being the CS Ultra, that may not apply. Either way, have the detailer look at it.

Got to use the new toy this morning.

Got the Bigboi WashrFlo. Got it from Repco with a 15m pressure hose. It didn't have the foam cannon I was expecting though.

I don't think I am happy with the foam I got. Bowdens Snow Job. A workmate with a Mustang recommended it and his car always looks great. I want to try the Gtechniq W4 Citrus Foam and maybe even a different Canon.

Firstly, well done! And well done getting the longer hose, that will make getting around the car so much easier.

Bowdens makes some nice products, but Snow Job is not one them. However, if there is one thing Snow Job does well, it's the ability to produce thick foam. For everything else, it sucks. The new formula is better, but, well, there are plenty of great foaming soaps on the market that actually provide cleaning ability and much nicer scents.

I mention that because the foam does look a little thinner than normal for Snow Job. I'm assuming it's this foam cannon.....................

That should be delivering good foam. Naturally, ensure you have the control knob on the top turned to full. Make sure your dilution is on point, for Snow job that is 100ml of soap to 900ml of water. Also be sure to shake up your dilution properly.

In terms of soaps -

Gyeon Bathe - available at Repco (and the usual online suppliers), this is the best soap you can buy at an automotive chain store, and one of the better soaps on the market full stop.

Gyeon Q²M Bathe 400ml - 116024 - Car Washes | Repco Australia

Carpro Reset - this is an excellent soap for ceramic coated vehicles, probably my favorite soap as well. Expensive, but I challenge anyone to not be impressed with the slickness, cleaning ability, foam quality and scent. Reset is more concentrated, so you only need 50 - 80ml per 920 - 950ml of water.

CarPro Reset Shampoo – Waxit Car Care

Koch Chemie GSF - I would use this for the scent alone, but the slickness and foam qaulity is also up there with the best. This seems to foam best with 100 to 120ml.

Koch Chemie Gentle Snow Foam GSF – Cleaning Foam Ph Neutral 1L/5L (detailingshed.com.au)

IMG-1381.jpg

Optimum Car Wash Shampoo - this is a bit of sleeper, one that I really enjoy using. It's a slightly runnier foam, but it does cling to the paint very well. It's also well priced, smells nice and is very slick.

Optimum Car Wash Shampoo - AutoBuff

I also really like using the Adam's shampoos, the blue one is the best, but all do a superb job.

Again, thank you for the highly detailed response.

Yes that is the foam cannon I have except it's a different bottle. Having checked the cannon again I don't think it was fully open, I thought it was but I must have moved it before using it.

I currently use Gyeon Bathe to wash the car and I love this product. I enjoy the slickness. I might try the Carpro reset. Can these products be used in a foam cannon for potential touchless wash? Say if the car is just dusty and may not require a full contact wash? Is Bathe Essence the same formula as Bathe just more concentrated?

It almost feels like the Snow Job took slickness away from the car and dirt literally stuck to the car.

The previous version of Snow Job was terrible. It just did not clean and lacked slickness. The new version is better, but still off the pace.

Bathe+ is certainly more concentrated, but they also claim the following -

"Q2M Bathe+ is the world’s first pH neutral shampoo containing SiO2."

So, it's basically a fancy wash and wax. I don't use that sort of soap, as I'm using the soap for cleaning, and then adding protection via the drying aid after the wash. That doesn't mean these soaps are bad, just not suited to my style of detailing.

All of the soaps I mentioned can be used as a foaming soap as well as a bucket soap.

On touchless washing, most "touchless" soaps have a higher (alkaline) pH level. Periodic or occasional use is fine, but you need to be mindful of prolonged regular use of higher alkaline products as it can cause issues of their own. In most cases, the unpainted rubber and plastic trims will show this first.

Of all the soaps I mentioned, Reset would be the most effective at "touchless" washing. Also look at NV Snow and Snow+, both seem to perform really well as a pre-soak or touchless.

Nv SNOW | pH Neutral Wash | Waxit – Waxit Car Care
Get Nv SNOW+ | Intensified Foaming Wash | Waxit – Waxit Car Care

But...............................and it took me a long time to discover this..................I would also suggest looking into rinse-less washing. Does this replace a full bucket and soap wash, not at all. But if you are only dealing with dust, then a rinse-less wash is a safe, time saving method.

Rinse-less is virtually unknown in Australia. I can certainly understand why many don't trust or feel comfortable with rinse-less, I was one them. It took me a while to become comfortable with rinse-less, but I have come to love it. I can further explain rinse-less if needed.

Either way, having a bottle of rinse-less wash concentrate in your arsenal is handy, they double as interior detailers, exterior quick detailers, clay lubricant, engine bay detailing, door jamb cleaning.................................

My favorites and P&S Absolute (especially when teamed with Bead Maker), but Optimum No Rinse (ONR) and McKees N-914 is also good, as is Bowden's new Dry Spell.

Optimum ONR No Rinse Wash & Shine - AutoBuff
P&S Absolute Rinseless Wash 945ml - AutoBuff
McKee's 37 N-914 Rinseless Wash - AutoBuff

For rinse-less washing, you need the following -

- One wash bucket

- Rinse-less wash product

- Several suitable towels or a specific rinse-less sponge. (At least 8 to 10 towels)
The Rag Company Pluffle Hybrid Weave Drying Towel - AutoBuff
The Rag Company Ultra Black Sponge - AutoBuff

- Spray bottle or pump sprayer to apply the pre-soak.
IK Multi Pro 2 Sprayer - AutoBuff
Marolex Ergo Pump Sprayer 2000 - AutoBuff
Pressol Household Double Action Sprayer - AutoBuff

-Drying Aid (optional, but I like using one, especially Bead Maker with Absolute.)
P&S Bead Maker 473ml - AutoBuff

- Drying towel/s
The Rag Company Gauntlet Drying Towel 38x60cm - AutoBuff

Used up the last of my Reload on the Audi. Already have Cancoat on the shelf for next time.
How do you find reload with dust? I used to use it but found the car would get dusty virtually straight away, not sure if it was just a dusty time or if it was static

The blower I have is the Buddy Jnr from Bigboi. Its ok for me but it was an impulse buy. If the surface is slick it works amazing, when not so slick I just blowout the places a towel won't reach and any excess water and I towel the rest.

It think I've discovered that this process is a very individual one and it's about finding what is best for you. I think ultimately for me what I want to achieve after each wash is a super slick surface and gloss. Trial and error will get me there as I try different chemicals and processes as well as following the amazing information and advice from DFB5.0

Reading Reset as being out of stock, I thought that was odd and went looking for it at the usual places, all listing it as available. Waxit are the local Carpro distributor by the way.

CarPro Reset Shampoo – Waxit Car Care
CarPro Reset pH Neutral Car Wash - Prime Finish Car Care
CARPRO Reset – Carthy's Car Care (carthyscarcare.com.au)
CARPRO - RESET - COATING AUTO WASH (vgautopaints.com.au)

You have two avenues to pursue with regard to a blower -

Dedicated Blowers - these are pretty popular now and require a power source to run. They offer a more focused flow of air that is heated, very desirable in winter by the way. They also filter the air, if that matters to you. The Big Boi versions are probably the better of them at the moment, I would probably skip over the Buddi version though -

BigBoi BlowR Buddi | Handheld Car Dryer | Detailing Shed
BigBoi BlowR Mini | Touchless Car Dryer | Detailing Shed
BigBoi BlowR Mini+ | Car Dryer Blower | Detailing Shed
BigBoi BlowR Pro | Touchless Car Dryer Blower | Detailing Shed
BigBoi BlowR Pro+ | 9 Metre Car Dryer With Hose | Detailing Shed

Repco also sell the brand -
Search big boi | Repco Australia

IMG_2033.jpg

Leaf Blowers - these are more convenient to use, no lugging the machine, cord and hose around the car. They are less effective than a dedicated blower, lacking that focused pinpoint airflow.

The best for car drying are the EGO line, mainly because of the battery system they have. I can comfortably blow down a dual cab Ranger on one charge from a 5.0ah battery, with some to spare. The LB765 is the most powerful, but the LB650 is also a good choice. I have also used the LB530 but was left underwhelmed.

You would then best add a stubby nozzle to make it much easier to use for car drying. These guys make nozzles for most blower brands -

Your other option would be to get a blower skin to suit your battery system of choice. Ideally, you would look at the more powerful versions, but I used a small jobsite blower successfully for years, you just need to make sure you have at least a 5.0ah battery.

It was probably a different Carpro product that was out of stock , i have quite a shopping list and trying to find a one stop shop for everything i need is diffcult currently ( was actually impossible currently ) . The local detail supplier here in Brisbane , Car Care Products doesnt stock Carpro unfortunately . Edit i think it was reload was harder to get . Any similar products to reload which you suggested for exterior black trim . CCP stock Gyeon brand

Re blowers i have a petrol powered backpack leaf blower but its a little cumbersome for using on a car and maybe a tad too powerful so the Tradie tool skin looks the go and i need one anyway for inside workshop , i got plenty of 5ah batteries so covered there .

I think I know where you were going wrong.

Reload has recently been superseded for Reload 2.0, the new and improved formulation.

Get CarPro ReLoad Spray Sealant | Waxit – Waxit Car Care
CarPro Reload 2.0 Spray Sealant - Prime Finish Car Care

Reload 2.0 is much easier to use and offers longer durability.

Having said that, today I used something that blew me away, with an even easier application and fantastic slickness and gloss. Expensive, but a little goes a long way -

So I'm still waiting for my car but prepping for a full weekend when it gets here.

I've seen a lot of reports of the cars here and UK being covered in black tar or rust protection gunk. What's the best way to remove and clean this off?
