I guess perhaps it was an option, someone posted this on Reddit showing several cars being shipped with the clear tail lights. They could be exports I guess. There are various different models and colors in the pic

Those are export cars.

Clear tails......clear reflectors in the headlamps.......and larger mirrors.

The dealer gets instant acknowledgement on the computer (Web Based Dealer Ordering system) when they place the order, and you should get an email within a day or two. Go in and talk to the manager and ask for a screen shot of of your order on WBDO.

Did you sign an order sheet, with pricing listed, and put a deposit on it? If not, you are in for trouble, they can jack you around with price, etc.. Also, if you do place a special order before 4/4/22 you are due a $1000 when you take delivery.
Here is a back and forth email I had on 3/16/22, a couple days after I was told my order had been placed on 3/11/22 (hopefully the two screenshots are in order of conversation, if not the first one is me asking exactly what I have read on these forums, that I should receive and confirmation from ford, and in second one their sales person saying I will not be receiving a confirmation). Should I be worried that 2 weeks after "placing" my order it actually hasn't been processed?

Edit: inserted my "confirmation" from them that was inserted. The issue I see is that on the upper right and left hand side, it says preview, nothing seems to suggests that this document is the final order. Do all of the order forms have such language on them?

If you build on the Ford website, you get an email telling you to go to the dealer. Then the dealer produces the estimate in your picture.

For me at least, when they converted that to an order, I made a deposit and signed a purchase order with legal terms, they gave me a carbon copy on yellow paper, and within a day I got another email from Ford confirming that I submitted an order.

As was mentioned, for a GT (but not a Mach 1 or Shelby) Ford is offering a $1,000 discount when placing an order.

If I were you I might tell the dealer you want a signed purchase order and ask about the retail order discount. No harm asking..... If they aren't playing games it's no big deal. If they complain though I would not be inclined to trust them.

That's all just based on my experience, someone here likely knows more than me. But from what I can see you don't have a signed contract, they'd be free to change your pricing. The sheet you have says "preview" and also specifically says it's not an invoice, the sheet I got says purchase order.

It may be nothing, maybe the dealer just does things differently and will honor the deal. But with all the horror stories, it couldn't hurt to ask the dealer for a signed contract.

PS..... The first dealer I went to attempted to add a markup after showing me that preview sheet you posted, but before converting to an order. I had to walk out and go to the dealer in the next town down the road.

You ordered on Costco? I would assume that they are dealing with a dealer and are getting all your Ford emails. At least you have a Preview Order with the pricing. You will probably hear everything second hand after going through Costco? I would think that Norm Reeves Ford could show you a screen shot of the WBDO they used to order it from the factory though. Looks like you're paying MSRP?

It looks like I am going to just go to the dealership tomorrow, all my transactions have taken place over phone, including ordering it. I went through the Costco auto program, but on their end they didn't get an order, so I basically had to start my build from scratch over the phone, but they said they would honor costco. As far as pricing, seeing as there is no VIN they would discuss pricing over a car that doesn't exist. In terms of my order, I put zero money down/no deposit and sign over email the preview order form, that is all the paper work exchanged (also had to submit Drivers license, almost forgot that.

I will definitely ask them about xplan vs costco, as my place of employment offers that program. I assume since they won't put a price yet, iam not locked into anything get so I can see xplan vs costco. I'll find out tomorrow

X-plan does keep them from adding extra fees and gets you a descent price. I bought an Edge back in 2013 using it, but in normal times you can usually beat x-plan if you shop around. Right now, other than Granger and a dealer in PA, who are offering big discounts under invoice, MSRP is better than most, especially for in stock cars.

I'll bet if you shopped around, you could find a dealer that would discount MSRP a couple thousand for a retail order with a deposit.

If you get a quote from one of the 'special' dealers and shop it around you'll do better. One buyer local to me said he was offered invoice at least.

They'll make plenty of money on an ordered car selling at invoice with zero risk that it sits on the lot. Money in the bank, and it helps with their allocation down the road.

Man, you have the inside scoop on a lot, if I didn’t know any better I’d think you work with Ford LOL.

You are 100% correct. Those are exports, and that’s a lot of M1s.

If Ford want to offer me a job (Mustang Trivia Specialist) I'd be more than happy
