Hello; Adding you makes four I know of kicked off the "science is canceled thread". I lost the privilege to post on it this past weekend.
Thing is for me I do not know why. I did not get any sort of warning nor any message from a mod. I did not call names and was posting in the same way I had done for the 600+ pages.

I sent PM messages to two mods asking why I lost the privilege several days ago and have not received an answer yet.
You don't know? Really?

If I had to guess, it was for posting false and misleading information. The last post you had - which the mods had to clean up - was really bad. The lady you quoted was known to the community as an anti-vaxer, had ethic issues, etc.

This thread seems like a good place for misinformation to thrive!

When did it come out that the virus is known (for a fact) to have come from a lab in China?

I'm honestly interested. I know it is being investigated. Did the results of that investigation come out?
Common sense has a lot to do with it.....but you seem to lack that quality. Not sure if you know but China would not let us come to the lab to investigate The origin. In fact they remodeled the lab which would make any investigation useless. That’s were the common sense part comes in.......

You want to go to war over common sense? I've been to war so I get it. Let's get emotional and send our men and women over ASAP. That is what you want, right? Okay.

Yes, I've read about the lab... even the reports from the American working in the lab at the time. It is non-conclusive. I thought you might have additional information from the way you were hawking about. I'm serious... thought I'd missed something since I've been so busy lately.

It is unfortunate that key CDC staff in China were pulled before COVID-19 broke out. That action should be investigated. With those people in place we would have had eyes/ears on the ground. No one ever seems to want to talk about that...

Hello; Well, if I am not told by the authority then how was I to know what the reason might be? I got no notice nor message nor any anything at all about what the problem was. Am I supposed to guess as to the reason? How exactly are we members supposed to know what rule we break if we are not given a reason?
I know the link I posted. After the link I wrote I had not studied the article enough to make my own comments and would come back to it later with personal comments. I took no stance at the time. I did not quote passages, nor did I highlight anything. I did not know anything about her and still do not. I found an article which seemed relevant to the topic and posted a link.

However, I do understand your definition of misinformation. Pretty much anything which contradicts a stance you favor. For example, I posted links to a CDC set of graphs on covid cases and deaths. You were among those who challenged even a CDC sourced bit of information.
I posted links to a Harvard and a Yale study both of which were panned. I reposted those in this thread recently.

I posted a lot of links in that science thread. Some I made personal comments about. I stand by my own comments. If I write something which violates the rules, then I deserve a sanction. Not clear to me that posting a link without making a personal comment is the same thing, but that is what you suggest.

What seems to have happened is in addition to the other voices removed from that thread. my voice is also removed. Like I stated before that makes four, I know of for sure. There may be others who just disappeared.

You always seem to find those types of people. It makes the mods do extra work. I don't know... I'm not a mod on this forum but I can tell you it sucks to have to moderate a forum when people are posting stuff full of misinformation.

However, I do understand your definition of misinformation. Pretty much anything which contradicts a stance you favor. For example, I posted links to a CDC set of graphs on covid cases and deaths. You were among those who challenged even a CDC sourced bit of information.

Not really... I didn't post that much, only in spirts. And I avoided commenting on a lot of your posts since that was a waste of time. I don't remember specifically what you are speaking. Although, I do remember you posting stuff from CDC but then making comments that didn't backup what you posted (you not understanding what you were referencing). It was odd at times.

I posted a lot of links in that science thread. Some I made personal comments about. I stand by my own comments. If I write something which violates the rules, then I deserve a sanction. I'm not suggesting anything... only giving you information from my point of view. I could be 100% wrong about why you were banned from the thread.

Don't worry, the four can come here... see how long this one lasts. :)

Funny thing is once "the crew" had no one to argue with, they stopped posting. Came to this thread to carry on.

This one‘s hardly worth the effort TBH.
So far we’ve seen:
Blame China
I don’t bother getting tested
I‘ve had Covid more than once
Herd immunity (see “I’ve had Covid more than once”)
Natural immunity (see “I’ve had Covid more than once”)
People just need to protect themselves
Vaccines can’t prevent infection
Freedom
Good to see you’re questioning “everything“, especially the things that your media has told you to question, rather than literally everything, like quantum theory, or the theory of gravity or anything that hasn’t yet been politicised.
Random conspiracy theories

Pointless endeavour.

Once again - look outside the US. The vaccines and pandemic are unconcerned with US petty politics. The 'common sense conclusion' is how many lives have been and continue to be saved by vaccination.
how many lives have been saved by the vaccines? please also explain why more people have died from the virus in the year we have had vaccines than the year without them.

EXACTLY how vaccines work.

I assume you are vaccinated against Tetanus, Polio, Measles, Mumps, possibly Rubella, Flu ? All given to healthy people to stop them getting sick. All created to benefit others, obviously something you don't care about!

Or would you not bother (too much work) and just leave everybody to their own fate untreated, unvaccinated, uncaring.
a vaccine by definition prevents infection. the covid vaccines do not prevent infection.
no one has suggested from what i've seen that we should leave everybody to their own fate, untreated. this thread reads as though you are having a conversation in your own head and publishing it for the rest of us. there are treatments available other than these shots. my point from my first post was that requiring otherwise healthy people to get these shots when they do no prevent infection or spread of the virus is not based in anything serious.

It is shocking to think there are people in this world who care so little about others. That is what society is based upon, without any consideration for others we are no more than savages. Even some primitive animals care for others in their flock and defend against a common enemy.
that is not what society is based upon. even an accidental brush with human history will tell you this.

I'll know you as Atlas1 Shrugged, after Ayn Rand's novel. I mean this as a compliment. Some people don't like Rand; I think she was a genius. As she describes the book's theme: "The role of man's mind in existence." (To quote verbatim, I had to look that up, BTW (I'm not a genius, and quite forgetful)). But to be clear, I'm not saying you're a genius. I don't know you well enough to make such a claim. But so young (by my standards, 30ish I think you said somewhere) and skeptical of the official narrative when so many fall in lockstep to the growing Authoritarian chicanery conquering and dividing our country. It almost gives me hope for the future of our country. :) Almost. Regardless, keep on questioning. Everything.
its ok you can trust me, i am in fact a genius :cwl:
in all seriousness thank you for the comment.

Going to war with China gives you hope? I remember my first brief on China in the 80s... all I can say is "good luck with that"....

Someone making unsubstantiated and false claims gives you hope? I believe everything should be questioned, but obviously some have already made up their minds based on politics and not science.
i should have known one sentence about china would too much of a distraction for some. for others like @Gregs24 it provided him an excuse to avoid subjects that he is not as comfortable talking about.

When did it come out that the virus is known (for a fact) to have come from a lab in China?

I'm honestly interested. I know it is being investigated. Did the results of that investigation come out?
if by now you don't see the fuckery that has occurred from day 1 of this there may not be any level of investigation that can convince you. would a few more videos of chinese "collapsing in the streets" help? could they have acted any more guilty from the outset? was it just sheer luck that they timed large purchases of masks and other supplies before the rest of the world knew about it? i grant that its certainly possible. would you bet money that this was not a lab leak from china? i don't know any serious person that would.

You want to go to war over common sense? I've been to war so I get it. Let's get emotional and send our men and women over ASAP. That is what you want, right? Okay.

we do want to talk about it. its a discussion that is shut down constantly! any accusation of the virus coming from china or questions regarding china's behavior is met with calls of racism. or despite signs pointing to it being true, even you want results from an investigation. like anyone on here has that access. we do have common sense and when we apply it free of political correctness, it tends to point to certain likely conclusions.

you were doing much better than @Gregs24 but this post is taking you that direction.
-blame for the virus is a separate issue
-since the cdc has made it their official position that you are capable of spreading the virus 1-2 days before symptoms, what should the testing regime look like?
-what is the controversy in having covid more than once? i must have missed that
-immunity to this virus doesn't last forever. immunity is stronger through natural means than through the vaccines. i notice you didn't add the issue of people that have been vaxxed 3x testing positive. odd 🤔
-people do need to protect themselves. this is now controversial????
-these vaccines do not prevent infection. look no further than the rising numbers of cases. i just read this morning that something like 95% of the positive cases in Germany are in vaxxed individuals. did they get a different vax than the one you are promoting?
-there is nothing more important than freedom. that does not change, no matter how many variants of covid appear
-i'm a little confused by the question everything, media comment. if anything, a few of you sound almost in lockstep with the corporate press. the same press i should point out, which has been wrong at almost every turn in all of this. the same press that is now suggesting this is the flu and we should live with and not adjust our lives to it. another idea that when mentioned by "non approved sources" was crazy talk and conspiracy about 2 pages ago.

Now gravity - that is just a left wing construct. It doesn't exist but the sheeple all believe it because big pharma and the authorities pay to shut down anybody who questions it.

Keeps people out the ICU. I knew/knew of a couple of unvaccinated people who were "healthy" to die from covid. No one vaccinated yet...

i should have known one sentence about china would too much of a distraction for some. for others like @Gregs24 it provided him an excuse to avoid subjects that he is not as comfortable talking about.
Guess when you post going to war with another country and wiping out their citizens, some might take offense.

if by now you don't see the fuckery that has occurred from day 1 of this there may not be any level of investigation that can convince you. would a few more videos of chinese "collapsing in the streets" help? could they have acted any more guilty from the outset? was it just sheer luck that they timed large purchases of masks and other supplies before the rest of the world knew about it? i grant that its certainly possible. would you bet money that this was not a lab leak from china? i don't know any serious person that would.
Not sure about "fuckery". Yes, I saw the people who could have reported this were not at their post. So is the USA is partly to blame for this fuckery, as you call it? It is China... I'm not sure how a "guilty" person/administration might act.

I know their gov't is fairly secretive about everything. Make them guilty? No. Am I defending China? No... that would be ridiculous. Just saying, other countries do things differently. And sometimes they do things the same as us but we word it to our people so they understand it/comply/don't ask questions.

Would I bet any money? I don't gamble... well, I play the stock market/bitcoin game... but I'd agree with you and say it could have come from a lab. Can you agree to this: The fact that other similar virus have originated from that area makes it likely this was not from a lab. Maybe even the reason the lab was built there (but I don't know for certain). Could that also be true?

I've seen a couple of those posts... they go off the rails quickly. When you start making racist comments, you go wrong. I'd find it hard to believe some on here could have a discussion about race and not say something totally inappropriate.

Last thread sk47 was in that got shut down because they started talking about African Americans and the virus.... the comments went bad very quickly. I was not surprised.

If kept factual you could, but considering your comments already, I don't think you have the maturity to pull that off. My observation.

And here we go….
Do you actually suffer from the cognitive dissonance that you should be noticing?

On the one hand you say this:

-what is the controversy in having covid more than once? i must have missed that
On the other you say this:

-immunity to this virus doesn't last forever. immunity is stronger through natural means than through the vaccines.
So my question is this.
Is immunity important or not?
You say that catching the virus doesn’t matter but that having natural immunity is “better”.
How exactly is it “better” if getting the virsu doesn’t matter at all? It’s like arguing that $100 is better than $50 in a system where money has no inherent value.

Please make up your mind. Right now it looks like other people are making you your mind for you and you’re just spewing their talking points out like a robot,

Anyways, that pursuit of natural immunity didn’t work out so well for 800,000 Americans and counting.
The experiment has gone far enough. Sufficient data has been gathered and analysed. Experts agree that vaccination is the way forward. You’re free to disagree with them of course, but you’re wrong,

“The term cognitive dissonance is used to describe the mental discomfort that results from holding two conflicting beliefs, values, or attitudes. People tend to seek consistency in their attitudes and perceptions, so this conflict causes feelings of unease or discomfort.

This inconsistency between what people believe and how they behave motivates people to engage in actions that will help minimize feelings of discomfort. People attempt to relieve this tension in different ways, such as by rejecting, explaining away, or avoiding new information.”

The bold part highlights the issue.

that is not data. i can counter it by adding that of everyone i know and work with, the only people that have struggled with covid this year were vaccinated. 1 missed work for 6 weeks. i do not work with anyone that has missed a day of work due to covid that was unvaxxed. neither of our points offers much insight into the bigger picture.

Guess when you post going to war with another country and wiping out their citizens, some might take offense.
i suggested that if this virus ends up being determined to have been from china's efforts to home grow a nasty bug, did not contain it, then gave no warning to the world, yes the consequences should be severe. seems awfully close to an act of war. the US has dropped bombs regarding bio/chem weapon programs before.........
certainly it is not a program that can be allowed to exist if proven true wouldn't you agree?
and i would like to see some offense taken on behalf of all those that have died from this virus and the livelihoods that have been destroyed over it. or is offending china the worst sin that can be committed?

Not sure about "fuckery". Yes, I saw the people who could have reported this were not at their post. So is the USA is partly to blame for this fuckery, as you call it? It is China... I'm not sure how a "guilty" person/administration might act.
it doesn't scream of innocence when they stay tight lipped as the virus spread in the early days. nor does it provide much faith when they don't allow inspectors in to investigate.

I know their gov't is fairly secretive about everything. Make them guilty? No. Am I defending China? No... that would be ridiculous. Just saying, other countries do things differently. And sometimes they do things the same as us but we word it to our people so they understand it/comply/don't ask questions.

absolutely, that is a possibility. but a virus that escapes from a location that also houses a gain of function research center, in a country that clearly has very little regard for life on this planet, is not something that should be swept away and considered a conspiracy theory.

I've seen a couple of those posts... they go off the rails quickly. When you start making racist comments, you go wrong. I'd find it hard to believe some on here could have a discussion about race and not say something totally inappropriate.
i have not made a racist comment on this entire forum and certainly not in this thread. i only mentioned race in the context that it is used to shut up anyone suggesting the theory of a lab leak specifically in china. many other viruses are named after the location they are believe to have originated. but for some reason this one is totally off limits and if you do point it out, the race card comes flying in.

Last thread sk47 was in that got shut down because they started talking about African Americans and the virus.... the comments went bad very quickly. I was not surprised.
you'll have to forgive me as i did not see any of that so i don't want to comment on it.

If kept factual you could, but considering your comments already, I don't think you have the maturity to pull that off. My observation.
have you noticed the factual statements that i have repeatedly made that are simply ignored? its like pulling teeth to get anyone to respond to why the claim keeps getting made in here that the vaccines are preventing infection, despite cases going up. everyone now knows vaccinated people that have since contracted covid. the statement that they prevent infection is simply not true but has been used as a reason to push the vaccine on those who statistically are not at risk from covid, against their will. if we're going to be concerned about facts, that seems like kind of a big topic to address in a thread about the vaccine don't you think?

Hello; Trolling another member with a spin to boot. You get two false implications for the effort from one trolling post. First false implication being I got that thread closed. Second false implication being I was among those making references to African Americans.
That you and a few others continue to use these tactics raises questions in my mind.

Do you actually suffer from the cognitive dissonance that you should be noticing?

On the one hand you say this:

On the other you say this:

So my question is this.
Is immunity important or not?
You say that catching the virus doesn’t matter but that having natural immunity is “better”.
How exactly is it “better” if getting the virsu doesn’t matter at all? It’s like arguing that $100 is better than $50 in a system where money has no inherent value.
either i'm not being clear, or you are misunderstanding the points i'm making.
i have not said that catching the virus doesn't matter and if i did, my apologies. there is no controversy relating to someone having covid more than once. yes, that is obviously happening. it is true that immunity does not last forever as we are seeing. natural immunity has been shown to last longer than vaccine immunity. natural may provide you with antibodies for lets say 6-12 months where as the vaccine antibodies are decreasing in effectivity quicker. this is likely why the vaxxed population is seeing such high numbers in positive cases with the omicron variant.
immunity is important and catching the virus does matter. you'll have to point out where i argued against that because i don't believe i've done so. but we are all catching/will catch the virus. there is no escaping it despite vaccines being available. my entire point goes back to my early posts that argue those not at risk from covid, that do not feel comfortable taking potential risks from the vax, should not. thats it. it should not be forced upon anyone especially as we are seeing that it is not preventing infection.

Please make up your mind. Right now it looks like other people are making you your mind for you and you’re just spewing their talking points out like a robot,
no one is making my mind up for me. as stated above, i do not see the value in vaxxing EVERYONE. and threatening people for not getting it is immoral and wrong. the only talking point i see is this repeated claim that the vax prevents infection.

Anyways, that pursuit of natural immunity didn’t work out so well for 800,000 Americans and counting.
most of which have died SINCE the introduction of the vaccines. neither you nor anyone else has the authority to force medical treatments upon those that do not want them, especially for something that they are not at risk from.

The experiment has gone far enough. Sufficient data has been gathered and analysed. Experts agree that vaccination is the way forward. You’re free to disagree with them of course, but you’re wrong,
the experts promised that the vaccines prevented infection. they were wrong. they have since updated the reason for them to being prevent severe illness. with all due respect, experts have been often about this from the beginning. we have been told there is nothing to fear from the vaccine. could the experts be wrong about this as well?
if the vaccine is the way forward, why are countries with almost universal vax programs seeing record numbers? doesn't sound like much of a way forward. i see new york isnt fairing to well either today. pretty high rates of vax there as well.

“The term cognitive dissonance is used to describe the mental discomfort that results from holding two conflicting beliefs, values, or attitudes. People tend to seek consistency in their attitudes and perceptions, so this conflict causes feelings of unease or discomfort.

i assure you i have no tension or discomfort lol. i'm perfectly at ease with my decision to not get the shots. if i see data that makes me think the virus poses a greater risk for me i'll be the first one in line i promise you. but i will not take it under threat of force. does that fit your definition of cognitive dissonance?
