After 40 years finally ready Mustang GT Convertible

After waiting 40 years to get my own Mustang GT I'm finally arriving in a place that I can seriously begin shopping for one. I had hoped to get one in 2018 or 2019 but waited then Covid hit. Now I'm about ready. Like probably many here I've spec'd and respec'd what I want but here it is:

Must haves:
Mustang GT Premium convertible in Orange.
Does not have to be new but under 10,000 miles.
Automatic transmission
LCD digital instrument cluster option
Active Exhaust control
GT Performance Package (or equivalent aftermarket performance upgrades, my own dollars saved)

Nice to have:
BLIS or safety package
Upgraded sound (really don't care)
Magna-ride

I've been reading the news on the shutdowns and problems making cars, also the threads here of folks waiting. Waiting for decades doesn't mean I can't wait a few more months, same time I already have buddies that gave up on finding the new car/SUV they wanted because they just can't get them, I've watched the resale market and been able to find some GT's that hit almost every right button. Looking for feedback from others who have had experiences buying new and barely used. Opinions and advice welcome too. And yes I'm set on orange and a convertible. Going to drive the PCH with my girl.

I work at a dealership and no one has cars. Every vehicle we sell is $5k over MSRP. Our Used cars go at list price with no discounts and are overpriced due to high demand and low volume. I get you’re excited to finally get the Mustang of your dreams- but now is NOT the time to buy anything unless it’s absolutely necessary. You’ll be paying far more for a car that will eventually be worth much less once supply goes back to meeting or exceeding demand. We’re not expecting that to happen until mid to late 2022 or perhaps early 2023. Sorry to be a “Debbie downer”- but it’s the advice I’ve given my friends and family. I figured I’d do the same here with my “Mustang family”.

Appreciate it but the deal is done and actually below Kelly BB on the GT. It has every option I ever wanted on it, Package 401A, PP, Magnaride, Active Exhuast, TO color, convertible 4,400 miles. The dealer dropped the price 2 times after listing it, guessing TO is not a hot seller. I'm a happy camper!

Congratulations! Very nice list of options. Sure you can wait a year or two until some form of normalcy returns but life is too short. If you are happy now that is all that happens. Nobody buys these cars for investment purposes regardless of the cost.

But the advice is solid and true, when you can almost buy a new 2022 ordered for what a 2020 is selling for the writing is on the wall. I will be lucky to break even in 2 years based on what I paid, but Ill have 2 years of enjoyment and not waiting. Thats another perspective…

If I ever buy another Mustang it will be the next gen after a year or two of working out the bugs. I am still content with my purchase knowing the repercussions of this pandemic.

Yes life is too short, if ever there was a place in history to show all of us this it's right NOW! fwiw this particular GT had a sticker of $70,000 Canada dollars, most of these are listed in the mid fifties but this was in the high forties. After 40 yrs it was time to do it!

Congratulations. I to was in the search of a 17-21 GT Convertible. I have found one and purchased it. Just waiting on the transporter to arrive with it. I dissected everything and wanted a 401a PP with active exhaust manual. Very hard to find with all options. I priced out a new build in CT I was at 57k. Tack on 7.75% luxury tax, fees etc and your at 64k. I paid 46k for a 2020 convertible non PP with 4400 miles and was out the door for 49k after taxes. I decided I could live without the PP and 401a and save the 15k. Can’t wait for it to arrive any day now. Then I’ll decide what to add first lol. Yes it’s very loud in color but I like it as I’ve own Kawasaki motorcycles my whole life lol. Also around me no one has this color.

Very nice looking GT and convertible! Again us folks that like the bold colors, all good. I've had black and metallic gray but for my GT it had to be something that makes me smile when I peek in the garage. Enjoy!

Everyone loves a sharp dressed 'stang! LOL Well we have a flight at 5:45AM to Philly then out to the dealer 1 hour away. Oofta!

To wrap this thread up I can finally post my pics of MY very own 2020 Mustang GT!! Saturday on a plane with my gal at 5:30AM to Dulles then Philly. Dealer had Uber business drive us out 2.5 hr drive and out for a ride! Got the loan, TTL and Ford Extended warranty deal all done then off on the road back to Indy! We stopped in Washington PA to make the trip bearable. The long leg back was... memorable for my 2nd drive ever in my GT, weather degraded to low 30's rain then snow (grill pic), even with wet/snow setting white knuckle time for a few hours. Indiana finally dry roads but still 30's. There will be glamor shots coming but for now just proof of possession shots.

Pic 2 - reason why I got a warning the Adaptive Cruise control was no longer working!
Pic 3 - at home finally
Pic 4- a new detail on the windshield... my first speeding ticket. Groan yes, Ohio passing a group of cars after cruising at 76mph sped up to 86mph in 70mph zone, over rise and bang trooper right there. Only good part my gal was laughing her ass off and telling me it's part of the journey.

Yes he did. Can’t take credit for it lol. I just did the PP gauges and dash pieces though.
