So I ordered Project 6GR FIVEs as the spare / extra set of time for my 350R. Installed yesterday were Goodyear Supercar 3Rs, 305 fronts and 325 rears. Gonna try the Goodyear 3R tire out and see how I like it compared to the Michelin SC2.

The Project 6GR rims for the 350R are supposed to have the same offsets as the OEM wheels. Well, I am not so sure. The Project 6GR rims require an inner lug to secure the wheel the hub / studs, and an outer lug for appearance. Project 6GR sent the same size inner and outer lug nuts for the front and rear rims. The front rims - there is like 1.5-2 inches of exposed stud sticking out. The outer lugs are not long enough and will not securely seat against the inner lug. The rear rims - somewhat of a similar issue, but the inner lugs are almost flush with the center disc, and there is less stud exposed after the inner lug is installed.

Also, the inside / back part of the center of the front Project 6GR rims does not have the same extended section as the OEM CF rims. Took a pic of this as well.

I have a bunch of pics below and could use some technical assistance. I will also be contacting Need 4 Speed tomorrow and working to get this ironed out. Would greatly appreciate any technical input on how to solve this issue. Thanks for the help.

The is the inside of the Ford OEM CF rim. I do not know the technical term for this extended piece that is on the back center part of the rim. The piece is not present on the Project 6GR front rims.

This is not new, nor an isolated case for you. This is what you get with these wheels on this car. Not trying to beat you up about it, but this has been covered at length for the 350. It sucks, but it sounds like you didn’t come across that info. I think they sell so goes due to price, but I’d never buy at set for this car. Save your money (get out now) and get a set of Signature's.

If you were dead set on a R replica, Vibe Motorsports is the only way to go. Forged, correct specs, uses factory lugs, etc etc.

Thank you. No, I was not aware of "issues" with Project 6GR rims for the 350 / 350R. I am not familiar with Signature rims for the 350 / 350R. Can you please send me a link?

Also, any ideas on how to technically solve the issues with the Project 6GR FIVE rims that I am experiencing with my 350R? Believe me, I have sent a PM to Need 4 Speed Motorsports, emailed the tech support group, and I will be calling them tomorrow.

Yes. Sell them. No, that is not sarcasm.
Alrighty then. I will likely return them and demand full refund as they are not to spec as advertised. If they pitch a shit, then I will sell them or maybe keep them for my 2018 Roush Phase II SC car (See specs in signature).

The wheel offsets and diameters are probably correct and “spec” for an R. The issue is the hub area on the carbon fiber wheels is very thick compared to normal aluminum alloy wheels, so your R studs protrude. If this were a non R gt350, these wheels would be a great fit.

One option is to get some long extended and open ended lug nuts which might cover the bulk of your exposed stud thread. You’d have to check the dimensions and measure to verify if those lugs will cover all the thread or not.

It would look a bit like this. My car has studs similar length to the R studs, but the tip is a different shape.

They have different specs and offsets for a GT350 and a GT350R; I am calling them later this afternoon to walk through this and try and work out a solution - as opposed to having remaining studs exposed after the inside open lug nut

Spoke with Project 6G / Need 4 Speed. They said not an issue. Two options: (1) do not use the second set of exterior / outer lug nuts when tracking the car, or (2) switch to one-piece extended lug nut for both the fronts and rears, and then I can skip using the inner open lug nuts (the one that is torqued to spec) and the outer lug nut, which is moreso for appearance purposes.

They said many R customers use the extended lug nuts.

I am going to try option 2 and get the extended lug nuts ordered.

Thank you brother! These lugnuts should be part of the wheel package in the first place ! What tires do you plan to run? And please update us with the final install with pics!

Not planning... already running Goodyear Supercar 3Rs. 305 fronts and 325 rears. My car is stored winters. Majority of driving is either track, occasional trip around town, to and from office (which is like 15 miles round trip), etc. My cars do not see rain.

See pics of new rims and tires.

Excellent! I live in PA and I plan to drive my R in the winter..not in snow or rain but those crisp sunny mornings to get my blood pumping. Also its a Shelby so why the hell not. Wheels are looking as good as the oem ones ! How do you like those Supercar’s compared to the Cup 2s?
