Hello all,
Curious of your thoughts. With all the new regulations and move to electric, do you think 2022 will be the last year for the GT500? Also, have there been any confirmed changes for 2022 and any word on when the order banks are opening?

With S650 due next year as a '23MY, I'd expect the '22MY to be the last of the current GT500 generation.

The question is will the GT500 return for the S650 generation and, if so, what'll power it? I hope it retains the V8, even if it's adds hybrid tech.

yeah I believe the 2022 will be the last pure muscle GT500.

I think 2022 is the last year. It will be a long time before another version is seen and I would think this is the last non hybrid version. The amount of money in R&D it is going to take for a new GT500 with company's putting major resources into electric platforms will make it fiscally impossible.

Current version, I think yes, 2022 is the last year. It will be made again but my guess is an all electric to be Ford’s new all electric halo car. When is the question? Not sure if y’all have noticed but Ford is all in on electric. They want to be the world leader in electric.
In 5 years tell I’m wrong that Ford won’t be the electric leader.

I agree. I hate that electric is going to be the new normal. People think it causes “less” pollution but don’t think about how those lithium batteries are made and the pollution they create in that process. Also, what happens when these batteries die? Where are they going to go?

Rumor out there now is the next GT500 will be powered by an aluminum block 6.8 with twin turbos. Probably for 2024.

and banned in CA...
Probably. My son in Cali has a 2013 GT500. Probably be selling it soon though. He may go carless for a while. His girlfriend has an M5, and he car borrow a vehicle anytime since he works at GM. He prefers to ride a bike to work on the days he goes there.

They could eventually go Hybrid kind of like the Ferrari SF90. They'll never go back to big cubed/liter pushrod motors. Not sure where that rumor is coming from and why someone would want that.

Never going to happen.
The motor you refer to is a truck motor and is not designed for the Mustang or any sports car concept. When a replacement comes, it will be hybrid/electric. That's going to be a while.

Ford themselves have said the 6.8 V8 is being built for variants of the Mustang and F150. It was recently said that this was a twin turbo, rather than supercharged.
