I took it for a good drive for a change... and worryingly im not sure I still feel as much love for it anymore... Im down to using the mustang as my only car now and while its a good fun car and a lovely big GT for motorway trips, its not a great car for normal everyday life with kids, dog, crappy UK roads etc. As a sole car it just isn't making sense. :( Falling out of love with a car is not a good sign.
I have a good suggestion. Keep the Mustang and buy yourself a cheap second car. I just bought myself a 1999 Suzuki Jimny. Such an awesome little thing. Easy to work on it. Crazy cheap parts. Perfect for everything.

Not sure I fully agree with that my previous Mustang GT was used daily for my 50mile commute Birmingham city centre. It brought a smile to my face every time I drove it and even in the endless traffic jams I still enjoyed the presence this car has on the road.

MPG wasn’t the best but let’s be honest you don’t buy a V8 and look at the MPG figure !
As someone who has owned both, I'll also say the Ecoboost was a better daily. Fuel economy aside, both engines have character; the EB was always lively and willing for any type of journey, the V8 just doesn't feel as enthusiastic for that quick 5 min trip to the shops lol. Almost as if it takes a while to wake up, needs to stretch its legs a bit more ya know

You aren't wrong. The v8 needs time to warm through. The manual box needs time to warm up etc. Also the shape of the car makes it a pain to park. I am really starting to miss my battered old daily beater Volvo for all that day to day stuff. Hopefully when the weather picks up a bit, I will fall back in love with the mustang. Otherwise I suspect I may not keep it past summer to be replaced with something a bit more normal.

Winter really doesn't help. I'm reluctant to take mine out over winter for obvious reasons. Really does get neglected for 3-4 months a year, so not surprised anyone would feel the way you are.

Few long drives / weekends away in the summer when the country opens back up and you'll forget about all your doubts

I'm just itching to give mine a much needed clean at the moment. Haven't been able to get to my detailing station (parents house) since early December!!!

Took this photo yesterday to show the state of it :curse:

I've decided to begin to use my GT daily.
I'll be selling the previous daily driver.

Drove less than 4k in the last year (2nd annual service this week).
In light of what it has cost, I should use it more, still less than 12k on it.

I reckon it will be fine, it's a Ford!

The better daily topic comes up on every forum I've ever been on, m240i owners always claiming you could never daily an M2 as it's to wide and the suspension hard. Clap trap.

It boils down to an individual and the circumstances.

I personally believe the Ecoboost in the UK was expensive for what it was was. it was about ÂŁ38,500 base price before it was pulled? Meaning probably ÂŁ40k after options and any discount, that's considerable more than another RWD coupe with a far far superior engine and I imagine better fuel economy too and it's a smaller car, so as a daily a far better proposal using the formula many use.

Not slating the Ecoboost, It doesn't personally appeal but it's a Mustang after all but for me choosing one as its (maybe) a better daily isnt how I would evaluate buying one over a GT.

I had my first MOT this morning. Passed with flying colours (although i was a little nervous about the exhaust given it has had a muffler delete).

Have had the car 3 years today. 17,010 miles in total, but only 2410 last year as i've been driving my wife's 320d for most of the year as she's been WFH full time.

Muffler delete only changes the sound not the emissions so it’s fine:thumbsup:
