A friend has a 2016 GT350. Does anyone know if FordPass will work with the 2016 Shelby?
Thanks.

No, it won't. FordPass requires the LTE modem capability that powers the in-vehicle WiFi hot spot. It started somewhere around 2018. My 2016 GT350 and my 2018 Explorer both have Sync3 at the same software release level. The 2018 has FordPass (which doesn't do anything useful or work very well) and the 2016 doesn't.

Thanks for the info. I'll let him know.

What are you talking about? FordPass works just fine and does quite a bit.

I wasn't going to mention anything but it does have a couple interesting things. If your forgetful it knows where you parked. Let's you know if there are any recalls or service calls. Has some of the milage data. You can remotely lock your Shelby if you forgot. Access to other information.

I just ordered the SYNC update. Hopefully it loads from the USB and works OK. I'm mainly wanting to make sure the maps are up to date. I checked and the update is newer than the version that came in my 19.

I'm pretty sure the 2019 MY GT350 started getting the LTE modem for the full capability of FordPass. My 18 has limited functionality using just the Bluetooth connection and isn't really worth it.

Not sure about isn't worth it. I think it was free.

Well it is free, but there isn't anything useful in my opinion without having the LTE connection. So I uninstalled the app.

Sitting here right now trying to update my sync (ā€˜17) and scrolling around in the FordPass app wondering what exactly I’d use it for.

Connected to the house wifi and it’s just spinning forever trying to ā€œscan for updatesā€.

I've discovered that the Ford WiFi modem is pretty dumb about connecting. I found that it doesn't like reconnecting to a hot spot that it has connected to before. It works better if you "forget" the house WiFi and then reconnect to it. I did that the last time I had the forever spin and it finished in about 30 seconds after the reconnect.
