Extended Warranties

Hello Everyone,

I currently have a 2020 GT PP1 w/Roush Phase 2 package on order. The car arrived recently at the dealership and will soon be outfitted with the Roush package and lowering springs I wanted.

While on the phone with the "Finance Dude" I was of course inundated with all of the add-on warranty packages available. I was torn on whether or not to get the extended power train W., which I believe extends to 100K or 7 years. The guy impressed upon me how much it costs to replace something like the digital cluster or the touchscreen display etc.. When I asked if the extended would also cover the Roush parts he said No. I think if it did, I would've gone for it, but...since it didn't I declined.

Just curious what some of you think about "extending" beyond the 3 year/36K you get with Ford and Roush? Thanks.

You can extend it much cheaper later on with Flood, Zeigler, or other Ford discount dealers, if you want, so no worries . If I keep the car beyond warranty, I might buy it for the first time in my life, with all the possible issues with these cars. Having said that, you definitely want the best one, not just the powertrain warranty. But in your case, it's a harder choice, since the powertrain portion would be void. If it was just the engine, it'd be more attractive. Ask Ford directly. Good luck.

Flood ford sells The ford warranty at great prices...I am not sure how they cover a roush package, even if installed at Dealer...

If you plan on keeping the car for a while, it's worth it very much especially on a supercharged car like yours. But as others said, don't get it at the dealer when you buy...get it separately and shop around. I was able to get a much better deal comparing various dealers across the country. And you can get it anywhere, doesn't have to be a dealer near you, so you have a chance to really get the best deal.

Make sure it's Ford ESP, not some aftermarket crap.

+1. Also never ask your dealer what a warranty covers. They are clueless. Contact Flood Ford and ask them directly. Remember you're not really buying it just for the Roush parts. It's all the Ford parts you need to be concerned about.

I bought mine for the electronics in these new cars. The LED headlights go for $1500 per side for example. The A/C in dash evaporator replacement job is over $2K, electric power steering, who knows, Etc. Etc.. You can even buy these Ford warranties on a monthly payment plan spced over a year on your credit card. How cool is that.

The finance guy told me the standard warranty doesn’t cover the Roush parts which is why Roush also provides their own 3yr/36k. It’s the same deal with Fords extended W. no Roush parts, so maybe they offer their own extended plan.

Very good point, but that brings me to a warning: LED coverage is an ADD ON to the ESP (at least it was with my 2018 F-150 Platinum), so you need to add it, as well as some other crap, like early rental, etc. All the add-ons should be listed before the payment page, but look for them.

Boy-Howdy! These guys want it both ways don’t they! They want your money and then omit expensive stuff that may go out. My sales guy told me the extended covers the electronics- cluster touchscreen etc. I don’t know about the B&O Stereo forgot to ask

Jeff, you need to read up on what plans Ford ESP offers. Their top program, PremiumCare covers virtually every "OEM" part on the car (except wear items, of course). I mention OEM because Roush parts are considered aftermarket and would not be covered by Ford.

They are a brick and mortar dealer who does a brisk business selling warranties online. I got mine from them on my 15' EB. There are others so you might want to check around. But I've always found Flood to be the best.
