I have a procharger ho kit that was installed actually installed by procharger...when I removed the belt to do opg I noticed that they had used the procharger tensioner to bottom out the factory tensioner to get some more tension on it.

Is this standard practice?
It was running and tracking just fine... I was just curious if anyone else is tensioning the belt that way..

How tight do you guys run your procharger belts?

Tight enough to not be able to bend the belt from parallel with ground to perpendicular (90*)
I’m not exactly sure what you mean by that...do you mean grasping the belt and twisting it along it’s shorter length?

My ho kit instruction says nothing about tension unfortunately... what does it say for the stage 2 kit?

I do the less than half twist method during the first tension set up. Once I am satisfied, and have done some test hits, I go back and make a line with a black sharpie on my tensioner. When I ran the HO kit the mark was placed on the factory tensioner, on my stage two the procharger tensioner is much easier to see and I know where the line should be.

Thanks for the input...did you see my first post about how the factory tensioner was bottomed out? I’m assuming, after reading your post, that this is not correct...

Mine was never bottomed out...probably need a shorter belt. Use the procharger tensioner (hate to even call it that) to get the factory tensioner to do the work. If the car has a lot of miles on it I have seen a need to replace the OEM tensioner.

The factory tensioner has marks on it. Find a buddy that isn't procharged, look at their OEM tensioner and see where their marks line up and mirror that. If yours wont hold at that point your tensioner might need replaced.

Which now begs the question... does anyone know where the factory tension should be riding at ?

Getcha a Griptec pulley. You wont have to put nearly as much tension on the belt, which is better for the crank snout, and everything else being turned.
