How do you check the voltage on fuel pump?

So I have a boost a pump with a a vmp gen3 blower and id1050x injectors running on 93 octane and apparently I’m running out of fuel in the top end. Is there a way to check and make sure I’m getting the proper amount of volts to my fuel pump from the BAP? I have a volt meter but I have no idea how to use it.

That's a great question I was wondering myself. I have a Vortech boost-a-pump that I have been suspect of since install. Never showed any better logs with it installed. I tested the yellow/gray wire with the car running at idle with boost a pump installed, showed 8v (positive lead back pinned on y/gr wire and negative lead to ground), whacking the throttle showed 13.6v. With the boost-a-pump not installed the test results were 8.4v and 13.99v whacking the throttle. I couldn't find any information online about how to test it, called the tech number, was told someone would call me back with better info. Never got a call back and I never plugged the thing back in.. I should call again and see if I can get a better answer...

I used to tap into the fuel pump power wire under the seat. I used a pin in the power wire and then clamped a long enough lead to read on my multi meter set to volts. Works like a charm and just took a couple throttle stabs to see colts spike to 18 or whatever it set to under boost.

You can use the multimeter to check and it should be 18v with most BAPs as stated above. Another way to check it is unplug the fuel pump to bap connection. Start your car and let it run out of gas and die. Locate the power pin on the connector from bap to fuel pump. Put multi meter on that. When you try to start the car you should get 18v.

If your BAP is setup with a boost activated hobs switch then you should only see added voltage when boost I present to set the switch right>

Honestly I don’t know the answer to that. My only experience with hobs switch is turning on an extra fuel pump. I would guess so but maybe someone else here that has used it for a bap can chime in.
