Is it possible to use Cobb AP to datalog the factory tune? I have been running the Stage 1 93 octane OTS Cobb tune for about 2 months. It is not uncommon to see a few knocks on the AP in my daily driving. I have seen some negative corrections, but usually pretty minor and seemed in line with others running OTS tunes. This is with me driving the car very conservatively 85% of the time. Yesterday was my first long trip with the tune and I didn't like what I saw on the knock and ignition corrections. I was in the mountains and I saw quite a few knocks when the grade would increase. The negative ignition corrections still weren't terrible, I hit -2.28 once and there were a few other lesser corrections. As I got out of the mountains, I wasn't seeing knock as often. However when I was just about home, I was merging from one interstate and onto another interstate and hit -7.37 ignition correction on cylinder 3. This has me concerned about the condition of the motor. Unfortunately, I wasn't datalogging at the the time, so I just have what the AP displayed on the gauges. I do know that I was not into the throttle much at all and boost was little if any. Car was at normal operation temp. I am wanting to go back to the factory tune and do some datalogs and just watch the car for a little while. If things look good on the factory tune, I will get a custom tune. Just want to make sure the car is healthy before spending the money on a tune. The car is a '15 with auto tranny, 56k miles, AEM drop in air filter, Airaid intake tube, NGK 6510 @.028, Mishimoto catch can. Oil was changed Friday before the trip and I am using Mobil 1 full synthetic 5W-30. The OAR is -1 and has never changed since I got the AP. Any input is appreciated.

Yeah stage 0 is the factory tune AFAIK.

Also, have you replaced the factory sparks? they are often quite terribly gapped.
Thanks, I flashed it to stage 0 to see how it runs. I thought I had read that stage 0 was a simulated stock tune. If that is true, I wasn't sure how close it was to the actually factory tune. I swapped the plugs out a few weeks ago to the NGK 6510 plugs gapped at .028". The more I thought about it, it seems like I started noticing a few more knocks after changing the plugs and adding the Airaid intake tube. I put the factory intake tube back on and checked the plugs. Plugs looked fine. I am considering getting another set of Ford plugs and running those for a while. Wondering if my car just doesn't like the NGKs for some reason.

Try resetting your "keep Alive memory" this will clear your learned fuel trims so the ECU can adjust to the new intake tube faster.
From COBB
Reset KAM (Keep Alive Memory)
All Ford Models:

  • KAM (Engine) - Reset - Use this function to reset all the vehicles learned parameters (Fuel trims, Idle trims, Etc.).
Ford Models equipped with Automatic (AT) modules only:

  • KAM (Trans) - Clear Tables - Clear Transmission Adaptive KAM Tables
    • Recommended when transmission shifting becomes abnormal.
  • KAM (Trans) - Initialize Tables - Initialize Transmission Adaptive KAM Tables
    • Use init. tables when tuning changes have occured and tables were previously cleared.
  • KAM (Trans) - Pause Learning - Pause Transmission Adaptive Learning
    • Limited to 1 operation per key cycle for diagnosing intermittent problems.
  • KAM (Trans) - Reset Learning - Reset Transmission Adaptive Learning
  • KAM (Trans) - Stop Learning - Stop Transmission Adaptive Learning
    • Limited to 1 operation per key cycle for diagnosing intermittent problems.
Reset ECU
Reset learning and clear codes from the ECU

NOTE: Using the Reset ECU function will not reset any learned parameters (such as fuel trims). If you need to reset the ECU’s learned parameters you can perform a Reset KAM using the designated function. Note that flashing maps with the Change Map function will not reset the learned parameters; they will persist until a Reset KAM function is performed.

I thought I read that you should only use those plugs with a tune.

I thought they were OK to run with the Cobb OTS tunes. The OEM plugs are cheap and I think I will pick up a set and see if they make a difference.

Right you can, stage 1 and up, not stage 0 since that is essentially the stock tune. I thought I read you were using the stage 0 tune.

I am running stage 0 now, but I am getting stock plugs to put back in it. Basically, I am just going back to stock and will monitor the car for a while.
