Keep it under 8000 and don't bounce off the limiter or get bad wheel hop at high rpm and you'll be fine, but it is a good idea if you're already diving into the engine.Anybody upgrade their OPG's (oil pump gears) with the 18' manifold setup?
I know they're prone to breaking when introducing more RPM's due to the vibration and harmonics.
I've had a bad habit of taking the car up closer to 8K RPMs with the new manifold on pulls. More like 7250-7300 actually, but you don't want to shift at peak power. For the best acceleration you want to shift a few hundred revs over peak power, depending on the gear spread, as you want to drop back to just a bit below peak, rather than far below it. Shifting at 7500-7700 with this manifold and stock cams will deliver optimum acceleration. With the stock manifold, shifting at anything over 7200 doesn't get you much.Peak power is at approximately 7500 no?
Yes but when racing. Having those extra RPMs help with momentum. Meaning it helps to continuous carry the powerband throughout the next gear in manuals. I will admit 8k is a bit much so that's why I'm going to step it down a little.Peak power is at approximately 7500 no?

I suggest setting the limiter high so that you don't accidentally hit it and cause catastrophic failure to your OPG's. Palm Beach Dyno set mines at 8100 RPM's. Haven't had any issues thus far.What do most of you guys have your rev limiters set to?
That's what I've done. I still have the stock intake so I've set mine to 8k. Far enough away from where I shift for a little buffer so I'll never hit it, hopefully. So with Lund you can't change it ever once they set it within the tune??I just put in my order for Lund so I hope they put it at a fairly high number just to make sure I don't hit it, even with my upgraded OPG
