Norm - take a look at Ashpian’s car, now that’s the way it should look from the factory IMO. I find it hard to believe his car will be less capable from an handling perspective than the factory setup. If it is less capable (and I doubt that it is) the difference would be so negligible it would be worth the sacrifice to look as it does now. The first mod I do will be the 350 springs.
"Looks wrong" is subjective opinion. Most people probably aren't 100% about function, so the gap between tire and fender (or possibly the ratio between sidewall height and that gap) gets in the way of fully appreciating cars built specifically for corner-carving. Because they let it.
The static appearance that goes over big at car shows is flat-out wrong for a car like the PP2 if you're going to use it for its track capabilities. By definition, 'inside knowledge' does imply that not everybody is going to "get it". Personally, I'm just fine with that.
It could even be some other sort of optical effect that you're blaming on 30-profile sidewalls.
