Norm - take a look at Ashpian’s car, now that’s the way it should look from the factory IMO. I find it hard to believe his car will be less capable from an handling perspective than the factory setup. If it is less capable (and I doubt that it is) the difference would be so negligible it would be worth the sacrifice to look as it does now. The first mod I do will be the 350 springs.

"Looks wrong" is subjective opinion. Most people probably aren't 100% about function, so the gap between tire and fender (or possibly the ratio between sidewall height and that gap) gets in the way of fully appreciating cars built specifically for corner-carving. Because they let it.

The static appearance that goes over big at car shows is flat-out wrong for a car like the PP2 if you're going to use it for its track capabilities. By definition, 'inside knowledge' does imply that not everybody is going to "get it". Personally, I'm just fine with that.

It could even be some other sort of optical effect that you're blaming on 30-profile sidewalls.

Not to mention the fact that other cars, like Posche, Ferrari, Corvette, or even GT350 manage to do it and look right. All those cars suck I guess.

More than likely, it'll understeer a bit more than in 100% OE configuration. That's not a bad thing for everybody, but please don't expect everybody to prefer it either.

I guess that's the difference between us . . . you're completely willing to sacrifice a little potential performance off the top for appearance reasons. I'm not, and will nearly always sacrifice conventional appearance preferences for potential performance instead. FWIW, I doubt I'd mount 325/30's on rims only 11" wide, either.

'Suck' is your word, not mine (why does it always have to come down to using extremes?).

I get it if the original chassis was designed with that much tire and wheel in mind . . . and if the car's build tolerances can be held sufficiently close that you won't get any rubbing (which would necessarily include consideration of the suspension's camber gain in bump). But what happens to any of those cars if you decide you want to go another 20 or maybe 30 mm wider with the tire and an inch wider with the wheels? If you can't put most of that on the inside, you might be SOL.

I've been known to work up much wider than stock wheel & tire fitments with very tight clearances to various hard points (to me, 1/8" clearance is a lot of room). Getting that right is more important than falling in lock-step with the appearance preferences of others.

Remember that I was only trying to give a plausible reason for why the OE wheel & tire setup looks the way it does. Nobody should have been looking for an agenda.

My car will probably see 3 track days a year honestly so I'm not really worried about maintaining max performance. I'm not experienced enough to drive the car at it's limits and beyond anyhow so having slightly diminished performance won't matter much. I'll likely get another set of wheels to run the SC2's at the track so my tires choices are strictly for street use. With that in mind I chose something with the looks I prefer and that help reduce the fender gap. 325/30's are within the recommended wheel size range but 11.5" is ideal. Even the factory 305/30's are on the minimum size wheel of 10.5" per Michelin's guidelines. After putting on the springs I have about 1.24" clearance on the front and about 1" on the rear with 4S tires. This will increase slightly when switching back to the SC2's due to the tire design so it should be fine. These Springs are also a bit stiffer than the PP2 factory setup. I want to say the PP2 is about the same as a standard GT350 and the FP springs are in between those and what the R comes with.

Edit: 245 lbs/in front rear 411lbs/in initial 740 lbs/in curb 918lbs/in final rate. This is about the same as the GT350R stock spring but the rear look to be dual rate.

These PP2 cars look mean! I like it!!! Are these 2019's or 2018's? I heard the 2019's get rev matching.

Can't wait to see some at track days!!!
