Why did he load the stock tune?

I'm not sure - his explanation was that was what he had to do to calibrate it. I specifically told the service adviser not to in the bay, explicitly... but they did anyhow.

I HATE most ford dealerships, or car dealerships in general. There are a few that have a clue, but finding them isn't easy. The majority of techs that are super savvy, simply do not work at a dealership. There are exceptions, but it's not the norm.

He should not have loaded the factory tune, whether it hurt anything or not. That alone tells you; he has no clue. And the majority of those people could care less about your car. They just want to get the job done, move on to the next, get paid and go home.

What sensor were they trying to "align"?

And then he revved the sh*t out of it to boot. Any way you can go straight to Ford with this. I might be inclined to have a visit with a lawyer and show him the tape.

Back when I installed the Whipple it didn’t mention what to do with the adaptive cruise control sensor and it didn’t appear to fit with the stock bracket arm intact. I cut it to fit and as a result it would sometimes work / sometimes not. The repair procedure indicates hooking it to the IDS laptop and adjusting it to proper alignment. I don’t have that software to do it so I took it there to Ford.

I think the tech got pissed he couldn’t clear the message by just plugging in the scan tool and realized he was going to have to work for the money. Just my opinion. I wish none of the things they had done had happened. Then I wouldn’t be doubting their actions and the consequences. Based on the totality of everything I was seriously hoping they would step up and help out in some meaningful way. They offered no services but said the one tech they have there they trust with modified cars would be the only one to try to resolve the issue with the sensor. He also said he would mail me a check for the service charge I paid but I didn't see that check. In fairness to him, I did say after waiting a week I would just pick it up when I came in, assuming he just hadn't sent it which he hadn't.

mmmm ... took a Whippled car to a dealership and did not stay with the car?

When possible, consider buying a Helms CD/manual and fix any little issues/sensors etc yourself and never take it to the dealer.
If you are going to need work done at a dealership, first take 3 boxes of donuts early AM and walk them around to all the techs, then service manager, then make sure to find as many execs or GMs you can. Build goodwill first, then bring up that you have a modded Stang you are afraid to bring in. Ask which tech might be working on it if you bring it in. Find that tech and take them somewhere to do a few burnouts or a few pulls on the highway.
Then, find a way to spend the day at the dealership while the tech works on it if needed. Take the tech, breakfast, lunch and dinner and try and not stand over them.
Cross your fingers.
Human nature is crazy, try to make it as easy as possible for people to do what you need done. Sorry to hear about eff up motor.
