So I got a 2018 without the drive modes, from what I gather it does make a difference when you run it.

So is there another way, or a tune that will simulate the results of drag mode?

Or did I mess up

Im pretty sure they can give all the simulations of drag mode in a tune. but you wont be able to toggle it on and off. so the changes in driving manners wont be the same. but you will still be able to put down some times.

I don't think you can simulate separate drive modes with a tune.

you can simulate getting fastest times at the track. but now the flexibility of the different modes would not be there. but if he had 3.55 with a tune i dont see why drag mode would have any advantage.

I got the 3.55, but no performance pack and no 301A. I'm really happy with the car, just worried I'm missing out on that little bit of extra performance, not that I need to be worried.

The drag mode will keep the power between shift. You can really feel it. It probably gives you a better time.

I wouldn't get hung up on it. The only thing you won't have is the different driving experiences like throttle sensitivity and shift patterns but you still have the same horsepower and everything else. You will just have to put a "little" more work into driving it.

It would help if you could tell us what you bought.

Unless he did a quick ninja edit, it's in his info...

It's been there, and I said no PP, no 301A, only 3.55, A10 and a spare tire kit.

101A, 201A, 301A and 401A have the drive mode selector switch

My car is a base model with A10 and 3.15 rear and 305 Nittos out back. No engine mods other than a drop in K&N. Suspension wise, I have a Steeda stop the hop kit. No drag mode on mine. I've run it at Royal Purple Raceway. My best time so far is a 12.255 at 116 mph.

I made 4 runs each time increasing my rpms at launch. I later read that launching around 2K is best with the A10. I was trying 3k plus. The car hooked up all night so traction was not an issue.

I'm going to go again this Friday and try launching at 1,500 and 2k to see if that improves my results.

I say this to tell you I will have a tune in the coming months and like you, I am curious if a tune can replicated or even perform better than the factory drag mode. I know it won't be a apples to apples because of all of the different variables a tune adjust for, but I will see if the car is faster in the 1/4 mile which obliviously it should be. E85 is what I plan on doing.

I guess in the end not really a practical comparison at all. Someone with drag mode needs to make a few runs with out the assistance of drag mode then some with. That should tell the tell of how well drag mode helps.

I have a A10 Base Car no drag mode. I can tell tuning it is different. Drag mode deletes a lot of the torque codes to do a full rpm shift. I just finished our Base 18 tuning!

Hit me up with questions.

I can tell you drag mode definitely makes the car faster. From what I saw from mine running it in the quarter mile, I ran my fastest times with it on. At the time I had a Lund tune on E85 and JLT only. I let the car cool off for over an hour and kept the IATs down at about 95 when I left and it ran almost the exact same time as it ran in drag mode with the IATs at 150ish when I left. Trapped more in drag mode though.

Drag mode is most definitely still more aggressive than normal or dropping it down to "S". Hope that helps.
