i've also noticed that Android Auto doesn't always connect first time. you have to unplug and re-plug in. really annoying and never happened on the old one.

I also feel like it's less responsive. might be in my head though
Same thing happens on 2.2 for me. I have to plug the cable into the phone, then turn on sync and then plug the cable into the usb port. Any other combo/sequence and AA fails to load.

I know with my Note 8 i randomly get disconnected and I have to unplug the phone and replug it in. Other than that its probably the best mod I've done.

Are you talking about upgrading your system from MFT to Sync 3, or updating your Sync 3 to v3.0?

Update:

I'm still having an intermittent issue with AA on initial startup. To recap, sometimes the system will not automatically start AA when I connect the phone. It happens both when I connect the phone after the system is booted, and when I connect the phone before starting the car. It does not happen every time, and I cannot identify any commonality (first system boot of the day, first attempt after phone rebooot, while running a given app, etc.) between the times when it does occur.

I'm still having an intermittent issue with sound porting. Sometimes when I initiate a phone call with AA running I can't get the system to "hear" my voice prompts--it says "I'm sorry, I don't understand that." I can make the phone dial by switching over the AA phone screen and clicking the desired number on the screen, but then call audio is ported through the phone speaker instead of the audio system. I'm guessing the reason AA isn't accepting my voice commands is because it's trying to use the phone's mic instead of the Sync 3 sytem mic. Again, this is an intermittent issue, and the only way to fix it is to uplug the phone, letting Sync 3 exit out of AA, then repluging the phone.

I'm still getting an occasional notice about configuring the system to automatically download system updates. When I connect to my home WiFi and manually check for updates I still get a notice that the system is downloading a file, but I never see any change to the download progress bar, and I've never seen a notice that the system has updated. I believe I've given it enough time to complete, so I've performed a master reset of the system, and I'll see if that fixes any of these issues.

If the master reset doesn't help, my next step will be take it to the shop and let them deal with it. Maybe they can erase the thing and reinstall from scratch.
