So im about to finish up the ordering on my new 18 GT. Been reading around as much as i can about reviews already and what some owners like or dislike about the car and its options.

I have mine currently setup as a GT PP2, active exhaust, in orange fury.

Read mixed reviews on the magnaride system saying that its not as good as people think, or that its not meant for track use?

I also have a question on the active exhaust, as it is one of the things i could probably live just fine without, but on the test drive i found it as a pretty nice/ cool feature. Curious to see what companies will come out with catback/axle backs that will work with the active exhaust. Even if i keep the stock mufflers on it, headers and midpipe should be a good increase in performance and sound?

Thanks for any input ahead of time!

Congratulations, let the waiting begin. The active exhaust was one of the options I was on the fence about myself. But, after some thought I went with it on our '18 order. I figured that if I didn't like the stock I would eventually have to go aftermarket, and I knew that an aftermarket would probably cost more in the long run.

If you haven't, you can look on YouTube. Their are several videos that you can hear the active exhaust. Keep in mind that the sound on a video isn't the same as hearing it in person. But, it sounded good enough to me, and helped me make the decision. Good luck, it not an easy decision.

I really like the magnaride on my 2018. Not sure why folks would dislike it, but to each their own. I would get mine over again if I had the choice.

I like my magnaride. It makes it ride smoother. And even my parents said they like how smooth my car is. And I personally like that you can change the sound of the car. If someone in front of me is going really slow. I throw the exhaust in track mode and it becomes a mad beast. But if I leave my house late at night I can throw it in quiet mode.

I just traded in my 2009 CTSV for my 2018 GT. The V had MagnaRide and loved it til I had to replace the all four due to leaking. This is a know problem on these after 40k miles. The cost for the shocks alone were over 600 each. However The ride and handling you will get with them are well worth the cost of ownership.

I thought order banks were closed on '18s.

Maybe someone should tell Ford to quit equipping their track focused cars (PP2 GT & GT350) with Magneride shocks?
Cheers,

Thats what i was saying as well, however, i got most of this from this forum. Someone said that the ford engineer claimed that the pp2 was not "track focused" because it lacked different cooling that the shelby has. Then i read another article from ford stating that the pp2 lapped 3.5 seconds faster than the pp1 car.

o idk, been dealing with the dealership while building
Yeah, I just placed an order myself, so I'm not sure about the status. I was told 6 weeks or so, which I hope is accurate.

I'd have to say that's pretty accurate. It will waste the PP1, but you're not going to be able to beat on either one very long without tranny and diff coolers. I find it a little ironic that they claim that the PP2 is track focused, but then they bury a disclaimer deep in the owners manual that aftermarket coolers are recommended if you intend to track the car (not to mention that it can also void the warranty). With that said, I just ordered a 301A GT with PP2 and active valve exhaust. I drove an '18 SS 1LE, and liked the feel of the Mustang better for normal spirited everyday driving. But, you have to hand it to Chevy for making the SS 1LE a more true track car with coolers and a warranty that is still good if the car is tracked.

I have owned many cars in the past that I have driven on the track. Some are better then others. My 09 CTSV equip. with Magna ride shocks was a track warrior. The control the Magna ride gave this heavy car was unbelievable. If the magna ride on the Mustang is anything like the V it will be amazing. As I have stated before outside the replacement cost I love them. I will let you guys know what my Mustang is like with the Manga ride as soon as I take her for a few laps on the Roval at Cal Speedway. But first I got to put a few miles on her.
Howlins550, I dont think you would ever be sorry for getting your ride equip with the Magna ride.

Your right. That article quotes Ford as saying that the PP2 GT is not track focused. Crazy. That splitter and Cup2 tires are track focused. The PP2 also got the GT350 rear suspension. It just missing the coolers. So, that must be why Ford won't call it track focused.

I wanted the A10; so, I'm driving a PP1 with Magneride. I switched from an SN95 with the MM catalog bolted on. The bearings and coil overs made the suspension nimble and the tires would 'ping' over road defects. But, it never felt as planted as this S550. The Magneride never seems to put a foot wrong. It’s just solid.

Cheers,
