The GT racecar is in the LM GTE class though, which means it has to stay very close to road car specs, so will not be that much faster.
Its vastly different to the road car:

https://www.topspeed.com/cars/ford/2016-ford-gt-le-mans-ar167086.html

Downforce in a different league, full slicks and probably to make sure its not binned probably driven by one of the LM GTE drivers too.

The pole time at Silverstone last year was the Ford with a 1min55sec qually time. To put that into perspective, it’s a full 20s faster than a 911 GT3 RS will do absolutely flat out with a pro driver, or 35s faster than a Focus RS. So the times on the video are pretty accurate I’d say! The fact that the GT road car is only 10s off is phenomenal.

Just as long as there are no gates near the track, it might eventually finish. ;)

Not that I think a GT could compete with a GT350, but the gap would probably be smaller if:-

1). The GT had the performance pack (it was a non-PP)
2). Has the 3.55 gears on the A10
3). As Gibbo highlighted above, the GT also had Cup 2 tires which are a much better track tire.

However, what a great video!

Good spot, did not realise it was a regular GT, bit cheeky of Ford.

Makes you wonder then what a PP1, Mag, A10 on cups would lap in, I really think it would be on par with regular 350 and not far behind the 350 R, them all being on cups.

I noticed Ford seem to be limiting PP2 to manual only, to make it a drivers edition for track work, but track cars have had sequential boxes for years with paddles, so why no A10 in PP2 unless I am mistaken or is it because then an 18 PP2 A10 would lap quicker?

It'll finish, with blown up wheels and a hole in the body panels .

I'm sure soon enough we'll watch a stock MY18 with A10, perf pack, forged wheels, etc vs a 350/R

Ideally regular 350 on MPSS vs MY18 A10 on PS4S.

As those tyres are very even in the dry and is more likely to happen as you can get regular 350 on MPSS. Though ideally it would be PP2 A10 mag on cups VS 350 on cups as then tyre widths are equal.

The R is quite a bit quicker due to a bit less weight (carbon wheels), more downforce from the massive splitter/wing combination and of course stickier wider cup 2 tyres.

Yep, quite possibly the "show car" that's been doing the rounds at the European motor shows.

Also, as I pointed out in the US section.....the Mustang GT isn't a "Ford Performance" vehicle, its from Team Mustang. Just me being pedantic....

Fair enough, some 350 springs, cup tyres would help for sure.
