Out of all those cars I'd take the GT350.

Well given a free choice it would be the road going GT - but GT350R would be a close second .... and if you factor in price the GT350 comes out well on top.

The video also shows how much quicker a GT350 is than even a MY18 GT auto. The GT gives the 350 the old 'hip and shoulder' out of the final turn and the 350 really has to get out of the throttle .... but it still blitzes the MY18 to the finish line. MY18 looks good, but it ain't no GT350. A repeat with the GT500 would be interesting to see - but to me the lack of Voodoo still puts the GT350 ahead on the desirability scale.

Also interesting to see would be separate real-time, on-board videos from each car ... maybe with a circuit map in the bottom corner showing the position of all the other cars. On-board in the last corner would be awesome!

I'd like to see some independent testing:

GT 350 R on cups
GT 350 on cups
MY 18 PP2 on cups

That way no argument over tyres etc. As in the video the video we have no idea if the Focus was on cups or MPSS as its an option. The MY18 was on PS4S and the 350 was on cups and we know cups are a much quicker track tyre.

Did seem weird that the race car was 10s quicker than it's road-going brother yet that was the difference between the two Mustangs as well.

They finish closer due to the staggered starts, tho could easily be staged i guess. A professional driver in the 350 probably helps restore some of the difference between it and the GT.

Not that I think a GT could compete with a GT350, but the gap would probably be smaller if:-

1). The GT had the performance pack (it was a non-PP)
2). Has the 3.55 gears on the A10
3). As Gibbo highlighted above, the GT also had Cup 2 tires which are a much better track tire.

However, what a great video!

Yep, the result obviously matches what Ford wanted but by the looks of the chaos at the last corner all the drivers were going for it!

I was amazed there was only an 8 sec difference between the road going GT and GT350R, but only 10 sec between the GT race car and road car?! ... I wouldn't be surprised if the race car was on inters or wets - surely aero and slicks would be more than 10 seconds difference to the road car in over 5.5km? If not, that's a bloody impressive road car and a bloody impressive lap from the GT350!

Watch the video at 19 seconds in and you will see that the staggered start times are almost the same as the finish time gaps.

Ideally had there been no tyre spin, everyone got a perfect start and perfect corners and perfect lap, and all drivers were driving equally, etc then all the cars should have crossed the finish line at exactly the same moment, that is what should have happened if it had all gone perfectly.

The GT racecar is in the LM GTE class though, which means it has to stay very close to road car specs, so will not be that much faster.
